Hi,
I would like to know what people look for when selecting a SERP Tracker ?
#search engine optimization #serp #tracker
  • - #1.....Free!
    - Ability to do check SERP position in bulk fast and easily, not one-by-one
    - Saves my input and results. Who wants to retype info again and again
    - Checks for your domain in at least the top 100, or more
    - Accurate. Why else use a tool if it is wrong
    - Saves history so it can be graphed, so you can see the trend
    - On-demand. Automatic is nice too, but definitely needs to have on-demand functionality
    - Ability to highlight competing or opportunity domains
    - A website. I don't want to download a tool that I may not be able to trust and can only run from my pc at home
    - Uses safe private proxies so it is reliable and doesn't return junk. Also prevents me from being blocked by google for checking 100 keywords.

Those are the top ones I can think of and what I built into the SERP checker in my signature.

  • I like to use SERPFox

They have a free version and they automatically check your rankings for your keywords 3 times a day.

It's pretty cool and works for me.

    • whatsmyserp.com recently bumped their checks to the top 300 results and if you are in the top 25, the results should be exact with google. Beyond the top 25, it makes requests 100 at a time, which can cause slight variations but the results still come direct from google.

If you are also interested in keyword density, it provides a link for each keyword, if it found your domain in the results, to their keyword density tool, and clicking the button pre-populates the domain and keyword fields so it is nearly instant for keyword density checking.

      Not bad for free.

  • I have one question, all these services offering Free accounts as well as paid accounts. Whereas, Google Search API restrict 100free search daily, how these sites make revenue / profits ?

    • What does the Google Search API have to do with SERP results and tools? You don't think SERP tools are using that API do you?

As far as making money, I think it is obvious how sites/tools with paid accounts make money...they are charging people.

As far as the free ones, they make money just like any other site, through adsense, etc. There is more overhead though if they do their tool right. For example paying for private proxies to use.
  • Are this serp tracker website save to use?

What concerns me is the way they get their ranking information. I mean if too much requests of ranking positions for the same domains out of the same IPs could raise a red flag for google, who might have some sort of algorithm and will cause my site to drop in rakings. Please share your thoughts, thanks.
