Dropdown Menus and Adsense

As I continue to add more content, I'm finding a need to use dropdown menus. I have a horizontal menu under the header and above my content and adsense blocks. I could see a possibility of rare, unintended clicks on an ad block because of these dropdown menus. Is this a problem with Google, or will I need to redesign my whole site so the dropdown menu doesn't cover an ad block at all?

    Google doesn't care.

      Nonsense!

As Yukon noted, this is asking for trouble. I had a similar situation with a blog and i ended up changing themes, bit of a pain and i lost some traffic for a week or so but it bounced back, so something to consider if you do change themes.

IMO your asking for trouble If anything on your page covers or even temporarily covers an Adsense Ad.

Choose the location for your ads carefully.
Publishers should never use tricks or deceptive practices in order to trigger accidental clicks on ads. Make sure that your ads are well-placed on your site, away from interactive elements, do not mimic the surrounding content and are not placed under misleading headings.
I would consider your drop down menu an interactive element of the web page.

I wouldn't cover any part of an Adsense Ad, ever.

Okay, thanks. That's what I was afraid of. I'll go a different route.

It really does not matter to Google. It would not affect your overall traffic.

It's got nothing to do with traffic...................

It has the potential for accidental clicks that could increase CTR, flagging and invoking a manual review and possible ban hammer, Google could interpret that menu set up as being deceptive.
