sup warriors,

First of all.... omfg!
I just started my first website ever with this domain name: deleted (funny cat video's and pic's website)
Is my domain an EMD?

Finally I took action to make this and i'm already considering deleting the site.

Frustrated

If you call your site Fun Cats, that would be an EMD. More likely, you're targeting the keyword "funny cats" or "funny cat videos," so in that case it's not quite exact. It still sounds like a good domain to have though.

No no no.... Google is not going to penalize EMD sites. They only decreased their value, meaning now an EMD site has the same value as a non EMD

This is exactly what google wants to do. Now the EMD and non EMD sites are going to have same value. Ranking will depend on content, not in the domain.

I think Cutt's tweet about the low-quality EMD. If you can build a quality with that domain, then why Frustrated?
But it's up to you, it may be better to give up $10 domains than regret spend more money and effort for something that may be in vain.

Exact match domains might not have the same value as they once had, but that doesn't mean they are worthless. All things being equal, I'd still rather have an EMD than any other kind. The article below discusses some research on this and says that .com EMDs are still doing pretty well. However, I just checked a .net of mine that's still on page 1 for its phrase, and I haven't done much SEO on it.

Is it possible to move everything to another domain without getting slapped for copyrighted material on Google?
And how do I move everything and let Google know it's mine?

An EMD is just a term that describes having a domain name that is a keyword people are searching for consistently.

So a domain name like FunnyCatVideos.com would be an EMD and FunCats.org probably not so much.

All that is really happening is that people bought up a bunch of keyword phrases and threw up junky content on them in an effort to get them to rank easily (with little effort) for adsense or affiliate products.

The advantage that EMD' s had has been declining for a while, and that particular method of one hit wonder sites has been replaced to some extent by more authority type sites. Bigger sites with more diverse content on them.

If you have something like funcats, you are not going to have a problem with Google providing you have decent content on your site.

The domain name is fine. Make sure your site is filled with alot of quality information, and that you find other ways to get traffic.
