EMD Effect from recent Google update

Dose anyone got the effect from the recent Google update on EMD? I have.

My EMD site rank drop from #20 - #30 to #150 - #160 since late Friday - until now it still not recover - So, I think it is the real position after update. Not just only "DANCE"

Something very interesting. On my KW. all page 1 and page 2 on Google all are Big authority sites such as consumerreports, CNET, epinions, choice.com, consumersearch.com, Amazon, or even Yahoo shopping!

My target competitor also gone - I cannot find them on the Ranks.

Does anyone hit this effect? - Is this the BIG Change on the IM world?

Chirdpong

  • I think we already have a lot of discussions about it here. Just search the forum.
  • Hi Adie,

The other threads mostly dedicate for discussion on the theory of EMD and speculation of this updating algorithm but I just would like to know the actual effect that happen to our own sites. Very interesting that I saw consumerreports, CNET, epinions, choice.com, consumersearch.com, Amazon, or even Yahoo shopping on page #1, #2. So, I would like to see anyone face the same problem or not.

So, I decide to open the new thread to discuss the actual effect since I think it is the difference issue from others.

    • I think it is temporary. One of my sites was hit badly but now it is recovering. It had dropped from #1 to page 2 and 3 but is now back on page 1 on 6 and 7. If you have good content, good links in theory your site will no longer get the exact name boost as the keyword.
    • I too think that this thread is different than others.I too want to know the actual effect of EMD but actually i don't effect by this update so i can't open it.Thanks for creating this so that we come to know about others experience on this.
    • Yes, saw drop in the rank for one of my blog from #1 to page 7 but other site is doing good. The second blog dropped 2 pages past week then came back with a higher ranking this week. Will wait and see what happens further?

The first blog had a lot of affiliate links and was not updated for a long time may that was the cause. The 2nd blog had only one affiliate link but updated regularly.

Just need to know does anyone face the same effect as me on the recent EMD update or not?

The effect that I face - my site drop about #100 positions and in Google page 1 and 2 remain only the high Authority sites such as consumerreports, CNET, epinions, choice.com, consumersearch.com, Amazon, or even Yahoo shopping - no niche site on page 1, 2 at all.

  • Thanks you all for info.

Now I have some more info. and have some idea to move on to recover my EMD sites that went down (never recover yet) and promote another new EMD that have lunch 1-2 month ago.

    Cheers!

    • Lots of Major EMD Domain effect by this google panda and penguin update. Google panda and Penguin 0.6% effect the EMD. It's look very small but it's effect is very high. I saw in seomoz article that one domain went down no.3 ranking to not in google.
  • I think I should update what I found on my site - based on my observation and some reports of SEO experts.

I expect my site was hit because the poor backlink quality and most of them (>80%) link to the root EMD Domain, and anchor text not variety enough - high density at EMD keyword.

I have 100% unique content, so it could not be poor quality content issue.

One thing I am quite sure that my root domain got penalty because My inner page in archive and category have higher rank than root domain - seem inner pages are still ok.

So, be sure you have a variety/ quality of backlink and be aware when using SEO service or buy some GIG on FIVERR - need to ensure they understand well on this updating.
