EMD Recovery. 301 Redirect to a Non-EMD domain?

Assuming this update was targeting EMD and/or url with your keyword, can you just buy a new non-emd domain and 301 redirect pages to a new website? Remember Matt Cutts said this update was "Unrelated to Panda/Penguin" that means our back links don't play the factor here so we don't have to de-index the old website and start fresh, just 301 redirect so we can get the link juices to a new website. What do you think?

Its about the page on the domain being crap..Not the actual EMD

I am confident that the recent update targeted far more then just your EMD but also your content and perhaps even links. Rather then 301, might be better to clean up your current content and add more.

Tempting but I am not sure what to do after learning about the "The Google Rank-Modifying Spammers Patent" Google might waiting for me do something and penalize more. Am I being paranoid?

Will be giving this a shot in the next few days. If sites were penalised because of the domain name then it should work. If rank priority was removed because of the domain name then it shouldn't. Only way is to try it and wait a while to see.

Want a free domain name to try the above out? Go here:

Just find a domain name that is an obscure one and it is free.

You are assuming links are not involved and that penguin was just about links in the first place. A lot of assumptions. Try it out and see what happens. Even if you got answers here you probably shouldn't trust them.

Let's get this straight - this was NOT just targeting EMD's. My worst affected sites are old domains with non-commercial URL's (no product names, no niche names).

5 emds of mine - all gone.

2 gallery sites + 1 amazon + 2 product blogs(actual products and not affiliate ones. have unique content).

1 of them got back on the top page for a while last night. Gone again...

1 out of my 3 EMD was seriously affected on the 29th.

I have not been hit previously by either Panda or Penguin although they kind of affected me because I lost almost half of my previous backlinks within a three months periods and didn't really realize what was happening at the time.

The refreshes therefore affected me because my link profile dropped as probably most of my link sources were affected.

However, the EMD update affected seriously because the sharp drop in traffic was very evident and as of the moment I'm no where close recovering.

The issue I am contemplating at the moment has more to do with the fact that since I have an EMD, and have been optimizing for it mostly with an aim of having about 40% of my link profile coming from my Brand Keywords which incorporate these keywords, how do I proceed with link building since the domain itself is now being affected and not the content.

I seriously contemplating moving to a new non-emd domain and doing 301 redirect from the old domain. But how does Google see this and will it have any adverse effect on me. Or do I just move the content without redirecting and lose the old link juice?

        Kindly proffer your ideas!

No, I think the EMD algorithm change was targeted at EMD's and partial EMD's. There were other algorithm changes rolled out around the same time though. Matt Cutts confirmed that.

I agree with the sentiment that the last update took more into account than just EMD. I would try adjusting content to target similar, related keywords and phrases, its likely your website is either to tightly targeted a single phrase or your content is not unique in addition to the EMD. Just my thoughts.

The fact is that this is not just an EMD update alone as Google equally released a Panda update on the 27th of September termed Panda 20 being the twentieth update of Panda.
