A crap ton of traffic. Or cheating. But the latter isn't a good idea; you always get banned before you make any real profit. As for the secret, there isn't really one(that I know of). Just concentrate on traffic.

The only secret to making money with adsense is having people 'click you ad' or in other words having a high CTR! However, this doesn't mean that traffic and content is not important. It is, but even with a high traffic and unique content, there is no guarantee that you'll make money...

Get your self a good CTR theme, such as adsense pro ultimate, beink, etc that would help you get higher ctr and more money

    cheers

I'm seriously considering dumping Adsense all together. I have made money with it in the past, but unless your building MFA sites, its just a ridiculously cheap leak...and more and more I have this sneaking suspicion that Google is docking legit clicks...

You might as well try drinking out of a cup with a hole in the bottom of it...that's about an equivalent.

This only stands true if you have decent traffic probably but I replaced Adsense with direct selling of ad space and so far this has turned into a cash cow. Does it take a bit of work yes but the sense of you are finally running a business you can grow is well worth it.

What is considered lots of traffic, everyone keeps saying lots of traffic. I thought that sites with moderate traffic were supposed to make money with Adsense. I mean if my site or any other site gets 1000s of visitors daily, then who needs Adsense, the space that Adsense occupies on these sites will make more money if it is used to run ads for companies that would want to benefit from all those visitors. Don't you agree?

I'd say based on what I have heard and seen over the last three years for every 100 people doing adsense less than five are making any real money and I have yet to see a study of what that low percentage could be making if they were NOT using adsense (but something else) compared to using it.

You wanna know the real secret that people won't tell you? Ok, here's what you need for higher Adsense earnings:

An ugly blog (as ugly as possible)
Crappy content (that doesn't make sense)
    Traffic (lots of it)

Now here's the kicker: I'm DEAD serious, but don't do this if you have anything near an authority site (or care about your visitors). Brand suicide.

This is quite true and in addition to authority there is one other (and greater risk) - the moment you start making some serious money with such sites, someone from their team will take a look at your sites and will be quick on the trigger to ban your account.

Agree. ugly blog like using CTR theme. Crappy content like SEO content, keyword stuffing to get the keyword density of google wants

Beautiful and attractive blogs no one will looks at your ads.

Basically killing a brand that is relatively successful. ie. has made a name for itself in a niche and has a decent sized fan base/traffic.

In the context of this discussion it would be taking a good brand (website) and turning it into a thrash heap full of Ads and junk content that noone would ever care to return to, let alone read. A responsive email list can be killed the same way by constantly blasting ads to it instead of fostering the relationship.

Disclaimer: Excessive advertising isn't the only way to kill a brand btw

Making money with Adsense is much tougher now due to all the Panda and Penguin updates. But, there are better ways to make money online than Adsense, so you might want to consider others like CPA. Most people that make lots of money with Adsense have lots of sites. You should build sites that offer value to the visitor and are user friendly and add adsense later and as you build more and more pages and more sites, the added income should take care of itself. But, it is better to build traffic to your sites from sources other than Google search considering they could sink your sites at any given time. Youtube videos, Facebook Fan pages, Twitter, Pinterest and other traffic generators can help, but it's lots of work.

      Oh this thread serious?

OP actually came back 4 once...

lol @ People slagging off Adsense like it's a problem.

It's just a contextual ad serving service--and it's the best one in existence.

A great solution for some situations.

But you have to have traffic first.

Then you can monetize however you like.

There is nothing wrong with Adsense.

      =======

An example: I Oversee 2 blogs at the moment.

One is a tech blog. I will admit that the majority of income comes from software sales.

But we have one standard 336* 250 image adsense unit around the same placement as the "blog" in op's sig.

And I can tell you that it performs very well.

Obviously we could jack up Adsense income by placing a lot of text based ads throughout the content and what not, but I feel as though that would ruin the aesthetics and integrity of the blog.

Moreover...OP you are not going to get anywhere with that thing in your sig.

And I don't even mean to talk down to you. I was just as bad a few years ago lol. Just saying if you're gonna do this then do it properly bro.

I have seeing the best way to make money with Google Adsense is by creating a site with great content. The more traffic you have the better the odds you will have in the likely hood that someone will click on the ads. I normally check out any of my competition and see the strategies they have done to be successful. Good luck
