Okay so I have several sites that were hit hard. Not really excited about this obviously. I also have 1 site that is still at the top spot. It has the least amount of optimization out of all the sites! But the other pages on the site are out of it. So basically only the first page is at the top. The worst part is my adsense revenue is Gone I was just starting to hit a few dollars a day and wham now nothing. So What do we need to do to fix this issue? Are micro niche sites a thing of the past?

To me the answer is yes. Microniche EMD and low content sites, are thing of the past with google.

I remember owning a "plastic chair" site with 10 pages once. A few dollars a month was nice, but what can you really say about the plastic chair topic.

Same as microniche medical site for example, are you an expert in shin splint symptoms ?

I dont know if you get the drift.

Authority site are now the game.

Niche sites and authority sites are not mutually exclusive, though Google may be treating them that way. For example, a well-organized site EMD like www.toenailfungusremedies.com tackles its subject in much more detail that most general "authority" medical websites, covering topics like specific medical treatments, home remedies, laser treatments, etc... It is true that many niche sites are so narrow that they focus on a single concept, but there are many that don't.

I fear that Google's action, though supposedly targeting low-quality EMDs, is affecting a large swath of EMDs without any real attempt to measure quality.

Aside from the SEO aspect, I have found that the net effect of Google's changes in the last 5 months have been that Google searches are getting less useful for me and I have started using Bing for many types of searches. The changes do appear to eliminate some low-quality sites from the search but seem to simply put other low-quality or off-topic sites near the top of the search results.

Definitely agree, and it does make sense as well. If you're trying to search for good quality information in google, would you rather trust a small site with 3 articles and 3 adverts per page or an authority site that has information on everything in the niche?
