Half way there - how to push this to the next level?

The sales of my eBook are about half way to what I will consider a 'success' - that is, my eBook will be making me more money than my full time job, which has been a dream for awhile. Anyway, I have about 200 visitors to my site a day, which includes about 60-70 from PPC.

To reach my goal, I need to get to 500-700 visitors a day. So far, aside from PPC, all I have really done is write 10 ezine articles and also submitted a few to goarticles. And I have commented on lots of follow blogs. I realize this isn't much. But when I look at warriorforum, I am inundated with ideas for SEO. It is a bit overwhelming. I don't want to waste time going in the wrong direction or working on something in the wrong manner.

So, considering what little I have done to date, what would you focus on now? What are the major components I should be working on?

Should I be submitting my articles to hundreds of directories at once? Or should I tweak each article and submit manually to only a handful?

Should I record youtube videos?

What really should I do on facebook and myspace etc?

Okay, kind of open ended, but I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. I am very hopeful that after 2 years I am almost there, but I need to get over this hump and get my targeted traffic to 500-700 a day. All ideas welcome. Thanks!

Is your goal visitors or sales? This is splitting hairs, but maybe you should start thinking in terms of conversions and not visitors. This slight change in your perspective will align your goals better, in my opinion.

Ok, here's my $.02 on the topic (and it's probably only worth that much!)

I'm becoming of the opinion that video is going to start dominating sales. The age of the text-based landing/sales page is coming to an end. So make videos that speak to your market in an empathetic manner.

Also, give away useful content, drive them to an opt-in, and you can build a list that you can sell to forever. The key thing is USEFUL content. Give it away.

    Have fun! Good luck!

oh yeah... don't listen to 99% of the SEO "advice" you'll be given. It's mostly crap. SEO only gets you so far. If your product sucks, or your sale techniques suck, all the SEO in the world isn't going to sell your ebook.

      Hi JonathanR,

There are so many ways to drive targeted traffic to your website.

Besides SEO and PPC, there are backlinks. While many people think of backlinks as part of SEO it really is a separate type of promotion that has influence on SEO.

After years of building quality backlinks, you may discover that more traffic comes directly from those links than you receive from organic SE traffic. With this in mind, focus on getting links from web pages that have high volume targeted traffic. Article Marketing is one excellent example of this practice.

I would suggest that you continue writing articles and submit then to just the top tier of the article directories (the ones with the most traffic). Don't stop there, create blogs, Hub pages, Squidoo Lenses, guest blogging, buy links on related websites and sprinkle in some social bookmarking. These suggestions are just "the tip of the iceberg".

The most important thing to do is track how much time and resources you invest in each of these discreet tasks. Compare the resulting traffic and work out your ROI for each method. This will tell you clearly where you should be focusing your efforts. What works for one person may not work as well for another, same goes for website traffic.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I just need to start somewhere and go with it even if I end up wasting some time in some areas. Yes higher conversion rate would be good. Perhaps I will experiment with different versions of my copy.

Anyway, half way there feels pretty good. Let's see if I can reach the goal. Thanks again.
