Only .6% of Queries Affected But 99.9% Of WF Members Depressed

Matt Cutts does an update.

He says only .6% of queries will be impacted.

Something like 99.9% of people at Warrior Forum start swooning.

Why is that?

Because there are too many followers and not enough leaders.

Too many people are blindly following 'the newest thing.' Then when that thing gets 'adjusted' out by Google, rankings tank.

The only way around this is to be a leader. Analyse, research, and report. If Google changes something, figure out what they did and profit!

Now I'm not trying to single anyone out with this post, but as someone who barely felt the 'EMD update,' I can't believe we've spent four days talking about the tragedy of losing our one page websites Get over it.

That 0.6% was only US SERPs, the next update will finish off the other 0.10%

Not hard to see why. Because google's updates are targeting the worst sites, and WF happens to be home to the builders of the worst sites.

Of course you do still get false positives and false negatives but it's just a system, and a system can't be perfect.

Have some compassion. Not everyone who got hit tried to build bad sites. In fact, some probably put a lot of time and effort into their sites. Maybe they did it wrong. Maybe they are just unlucky. And yes, some people just plain built bad sites.

Kicking people when they are down is not the best way to promote your service in my opinion.

But thanks for the post, going on my list of WF members Signatures I will never click. Don't worry, I am sure you will get over it.

I do have compassion. I didn't accuse anyone of building bad sites. I merely said people are 'following the trends.' As for you not buying from me, that really hurts

I'll add you to my mental note of people not to buy from and we can call it even, okay sport?

At least Cutts was kind enough to state that a Panda update happened at the same time, so people can understand why their 'non-EMDs' went down at the same time.

This is exactly what I just posted about. I don't see where OP kicked anybody that's down. To be honest, nobody is owed compassion anyway - it's a business.

Instead of insulting OP, why not ask what he's doing and try to learn from him? It makes far more sense to learn from those of us who continue to do well than to insult us and tell us how mean and unfair we are. It's not our fault your site got hammered.

Why would someone who has nothing to complain about, complain?

Read the history of the complainers and you'll soon work out that many have been building themselves up for a fall for a long while. Very few put their awesome authority *cough cough* site up for analysis after it's been knocked back to it's rightful level.

No question. This is especially true of the Micro Niche Site network builders. They've escaped the wrath of Google for quite some time. This latest update seemed inevitable.

Matt Cutts isn't exactly known for telling the truth. 0.6%? LOL! If he told the truth after every update we'd be gaming Google HARD!

I completely agree, I preached this for a while, until I saw there was no point.

Edit: Why this is viewed as a kick you while your down thread I don't know, the op stated the real topic was to be a leader, it's not even about the people who built EMDs, it's about not being a follower, with every single update comes the " I lost my site threads" or " lets figure out what happened threads" stop following the herd and be your own man/woman and you wont have to worry about G updates.

Well, you know, sometimes it is just fun to join in with the mass and whining about something which do not have anything to do with yourself.

Whatever, i do have a few sites (among 100+ sites that i own) dropped their ranks but i am not sure if it was Google or just some random dance, this happens all the time.

That's because Google is inconsistent or just unfair. An example of a site loved by Google and I don't see it as quality page:

He actually came out and said that it was 2.4% of queries when you factor in the panda update

You got that right. But I don't think most people here can do proper research and analysis so that won't happen. It's not a place for PhDs which is what is needed for what you propose. People come here for answers and I think unfortunately there's too much noise and simply confuses the issues.

That too. But that's why they are here, to learn from their mistakes, presumably. And as Fraggler said, those who have nothing to complain about, don't. You always hear from the complainers, not so much from the leaders because there's so much fewer of them.

A perfect example of what has been discussed on another thread the last few days. Why is it not a quality page? It's your opinion and using YOUR definition of quality, not Google's. I assume it's because you don't like the layout or the colors. I do agree there's not much content on that page. But if it ranks high, the owner surely has done something right to satisfy Google. In other words, high quality in their eyes, their definition, not yours.

If you use the word 'failure' instead of 'opportunity to learn', it will be hard to go anywhere in IM.

Or perhaps 99.9% of people are lazy and aren't willing to put the grind in that is required to produce a quality site.
