Exact Match Domains

Hi everyone,

I just read a tweet by Matt Cutts, head of the webspam team at Google.

He tweeted this on the 28 Sept 2012:

"Minor weather report: small upcoming Google algo change will reduce low-quality "exact-match" domains in search results."

What effects will this have on websites/blog rankings & search results?

  • Oh! Finally Domain name carrying keyword with low link value going to be pushed back! Cool Matt Cutts
  • The effect is already here - update from September 30th, which reduced the importance of EMD domains.

    • Oh thanks hadn't realised
  • Yeah, this update has hurt a lot of people on WF. Look around for some fairly expansive threads.
  • Still trying to work out roughly what google use as guidelines to classify low quality...
