Micro Niche

Would it be a good idea to get a niche website started before I even have the product to sell? This way I can start working on quality on-page content/info and SEO while I'm waiting for product to arrive in 2-3 months from now. I know my off page SEO will need to be long tail and not overly keyword concentrated, especially being a micro niche.
