Hi,

I am planning to buy few high PR domains. Normally these high PR domain are very costly, but the expired domain comes relatively cheaper.

I want to know if it would be a wise decision to buy a domain which has expired few weeks ago. The domain has lots of quality high PR backlink.

I need some expert advice here, should i buy it or avoid it since its expired.

Thanks

Well I mean it really comes down to price and plans for the domain, are you planning on building out a nice authority site? Are the domains keyword rich and niche related? Do you mind disclosing the cost?

I don't have plans for building authority sites with this domain, its just two words domain easy to remember, PR6 and i am getting it in $135 only. I have already checked if the PR is real or not, the backlink profile is quite strong.

Since it has expired few weeks ago, would it cause the PR drop, this is my main concern. I don't have so much idea about this.

What "state" is the domain in according to the Registrar? This sounds like a great deal as long as the domain hasn't totally dropped.

the registrar showing the notice: domain has expired and pending renewal or deletion.

Its been exactly 23 days since the domain expired, there are pages still indexed in google for that domain.

          • An aged domain is easier to rank and can help you with your SEO strategy once you add content and start working on your site. At this price, you are getting a fantastic deal. If you are planning to build a quality site using this domain, then you should buy it.

You need to buy domains that have not officially dropped. That way you keep the domain age and backlinks. Generally domains in this state go to auction after 25 days. Who is selling you the domain?

How do you check if the domain has officially dropped or not?

The domain hasn't dropped yet. It's in the 'grace period' where the original owner can still redeem it. After day 25 it goes to auction.

If someone is trying to sell you this, it's a scam.

Personally, I wouldn't buy any domain on google pagerank at all.

It can be rigged, and swapping domains can be a MAJOR variable determining its current pagerank. (especially if the content is swapped around)

Page Rank is very easy to fake. You never know whether in the next pr update, it suddenly falls to 0.

I would therefore also use some other parameters to judge the domain. I normally check out the SEOMoz Domain Authority, SEMRush Keyword and Traffic data and run the domain through ahrefs.com to see the quality of backlinks.
