EMD competition obliterated in SERPs

When the EMD update started my competition was holding steady at the bottom of page #1 for most niche keywords (was holding steady at top of page #1 in G SERPs before algo. update).

I just now checked a few random niche keywords, the EMD competition is now totally obliterated in the SERPs, not showing for any of the higher traffic niche keywords.

Comp. EMD still has 1,200 pages indexed, just not ranking any of them, at least not the good keywords.

Thanks goes out to Google for thinning out the herd.

So the EMD and Panda hurt them and then the Penguin knocked them out entirely. Google did three updates in quick succession.

Right. So these guys were a triple threat.

        Panda: Bad content. Check.
EMD update: Low quality EMD. Check.
        Penguin: Low quality backlinks. Check.

I'm sure. Google doesn't care if they throw the baby out with the bath water. They'll slay perfectly innocent babies if it furthers their corporate agenda

There are also really crappy EMDs ranking now too, proving they never quite get it right either.

I'm 99% sure this last update wasn't about low quality content/pages, at least it wasn't for my competition. His links were also decent.

One of my sites have the best content when compared to the competition but it was obliterated simply because of being an EMD.

All I care about is the herd is getting thinner. Really don't care which algo. update finished the comp. off, just that it happened.

BTW, that EMD comp. has decent links, & content that I would pay money for, I wouldn't mind having their content on my site. I might wait a couple of months & ask If they want to sell the content (low ball the price).

What's funny is I see a weebly site bottom of first SERP page for a decent keyword in my niche. I've never seen a weebly page rank for anything.

You must be in some drop down weak search results for you to even think its possible they would give up and sell you the content after a few months.

      .
Right now Google is not after real SEOs but marketers. I haven't found any community of real SEOs where they are giving up and moving on to something else.

That comment doesn't even make any sense.

The guy was banking on SERP traffic, I don't see any niche forum or social traffic (alternative traffic). I doubt all those small business links are generating much traffic.

Look around this forum, people bitch, moan, cry, & give up everyday, your comment suggest that doesn't happen.

Sheesh since I have to spell it out to you real competition is not going to sell you their content because they took a spill in the serps. They will retool even use another domain and come back strong. They don't have to have social traffic. You entirely missed the point. They wouldnt give up ON SEARCH that easy. That I have to spell that out for you is sad and verifies that you have some weak competitors if you think they will just lie down and sell you their content in a few months. Not only did my post make sense its just plain ordinary common sense

Seriously try and make some sense yourself before commenting on a logic that is crystal clear and rooted in facts.

That's just nit picking at choice of words.

You do SEO & you market your forum sig., so are you saying your not a real SEO?
Don't be silly. My post had nothing to do with anchor text or links It had to do with the SEO community at large which you seem oblivious doesn't consist just of this board where most people use link packages and $5 content on wordpress. I haven't met any SEOs that are giving up and moving on to anything else. I see no evidence that Google is trying to get SEOs to quit. Its merely targeting the kind of practices it has never wanted and Imers find themselves under the gun because they use those kinds of practices.

Maybe Google has decided to randomly kick websites out so everybody gets a taste of it. What percentage of his backlinks contained his "EMD" keyphrase, did you check?

The anchor-text for most of his links (almost 70%) are plain domain URLs.

      Example: hxxp://carparts.com/
His links are from a lot of legit small business sites, all in the same niche.

In most updates I see good sites (like genuinely good content and decent links) get slapped as well. However, most of the times these sites tend to bounce back unlike low quality content/crappy links sites.

So it may be a bit early to spell doom for sites like the one Yukon mentions. One thing I know is that every major (or semi-major) update from Google creates a lot of background noise and then a team of engineers seem to work hard to sort things out.

Anytime something changes in the SERPs, the last thing people should do is panic & start making drastic changes.

Damn that's pretty harsh. 1,200 pages.

I had a feeling that those who said Google wouldn't touch the "good" EMDs with lots of content were in for a surprise. Google has shown a tendency to do massive, sweeping updates. Even taking out quality sites in the process.

It's possible this guys EMD could bounce back (never know). That's why I said earlier I think I'll wait a while before making an offer on his content. If he's pissed off enough, he might sell out.

It's not difficult to track his SERPs, he was ranking 1st page for most of my own keywords.

So far one of my main competitors in one of my niche keywords has the EMD .com (mine was .org) is still holding strong in the #2 position which is where I was and it never it ranked higher than me till this last update.

They have generic content too so I agree totally that it's EMD with no regard for "quality content "
