Did you mean 'site:domain.com' and this shows the number of pages indexed?

    Yes - you're missing 2 things:

1 - Google search tools don't show you everything, they never have.

If you have a Google Webmasters account that will show you your backlinks much more accurately.

2 - Google stuff is supposed to go in the SEO section of the forum.

There are lots of things you are missing. First of all if you search in Google then you would not get everything you want. Do you have an account in of Google webmasters. If you do not have then you need one. you can easily locate those sites who create backlinks with your sites. And most important thing is that do not forget to check those sites on regular basis.

I believe he's saying that the backlink search on Google is broken, not that he is looking for his backlinks on Google. If that's the case, I would use Google Webmaster Tools. You can see which backlinks are linking to each individual page.

1 - Google Webmaster Tools does not show all of your backlinks, nor does it give an 'accurate' representation of them.

2 - Google limits operator results. You are never going to get a full picture of something when using any operator such as 'site:'

Agree with you, I was also think that there is not a single tool that shows you your websites all back links. But after reading this...
