Post Sept29th Google update, will PRWEB help?

Hi Guys

On the 29th when Google did their 'exact domain name' update, one of my sites dropped from around 80 hits a day to 20-30. I was thinking of doing the $200 PRWEB SEO package press releases. I had great success with this before with a fishing site I have, but when I checked the stats for my fishing site yesterday, that site has completely nose dived, and it was even an exact domain type URL.

Any ideas?

  • Hi Phil - highly unlikely. The cause of the SERP slap has nothing to do with the backlinks so I don't see a press release fixing any of this. Then again - you never know until you try.

    The problem lies in the URL and that's the hardest part to fix ;-)

  • Don't expect to get much direct value from press releases sites, yes even the likes of PRWeb and others. They are right down there with article directories.

    However,

    The difference between them and article directories is that people, journalists, publishers, etc may read them. If your release is actually newsworthy, they'll either pick it up or cover the topic on their own or contact you for comments. That's where the value for SEO comes in.

    For 80 hits a day, you should probably register a new domain and start over with fresh content. Don't waste your money.

  • Thanks guys for your comments. The problem is the site is based around a real offline business, so will be a pain to start with a whole new domain name. Still, maybe it will have to come to that. The URL wasn't even intended to be an exact domain name, it just happens to be the name of the business. This is where it can be a real pain when decent sites get included in the slap.
