Hi There,

My website (mywebsite.ca) is penalize by google. If I go with a new domain, (mywebsite.net) with a new content, can I get rid of google penalty?

Thanks,

    Thanks,
If you are using new content and another domain name then it is another site. If you construct it the same way with the same flaws as the previous one then you will get hit again at some point, or your site won't rank for anything again, especially if you are using Webmaster Tools as you might well get a manual review quite quickly. New site with new content that doesn't break any Google guidelines should be fine.

If you create a new domain and send all traffic from old domain to new you will experience a surge of traffic for a while - week to 10 days - about 5 to 7 days after doing so which will die off after about a week (Google honeymoon) but run the risk of upsetting Google even further. I did this on quite a few of my sites and I ended up with both old and new domains being deindexed.

By the way you say your site is penalised? Probably referring to the new Google 'kick the affiliates in the nuts' update that didn't penalise but reduced page rank on pages it didn't like, and also removed a boost from EMDs.

Not using Webmaster Tools doesn't hide your site from anything. Using it is for your benefit. Not using it doesn't prevent Google from gathering the information they need to assess your site and it certainly doesn't prevent them from taking actions.

And by the way, if you're worrying about getting manually reviewed, you might as well get out the SEO game now cause sooner or later one or more of their algos will get you.

Yes you should be able to shake the penalty as long you don't 301 redirect the old domain, and you don't go back to same link building tactics that got you hit in the first place.

Yeah, you can 301 redirect your old domain to a new domain. The only problem is, a lot of the time this passed the penalty.

After years of doing SEO my conclusion is build a new site and forget the old domain. If you're dealing with a brand and a site you cannot get rid of, do everything in your power to improve the site, get rid the links that got you into trouble and build white hat links.

I do not want to redirect or 301 and stuff like that. Simply build a new site with my brand. instead of .ca I build .net with a new content.

New Site name and new content is entirely a new site. Do not redirect 301. It will pass the penalty. Instead buy a similar high PR domain and use the redirect to pass some PR to the new site.

Once punished, you can forget the old site unless too much effort went into it. Its going to take lot more time to bring up the old site than build a new one ( probably on an aged domain)

You'll get rid of the penalty but you have to start from scratch.
