A fellow Warrier Has My Site Dropping Like A Stone... Can you help?

Hey Guys.... I am really down here. I am not an internet marketer but I do run a local service business and I really screwed things up.. I guess....

Background.

A few months ago I made the mistake of buying a link on a PR7 site from a fellow warrier. I assumed it was one link on one page. Well I now have over 5000 links showing in webmaster tools from his spammy site. Every time he posts an article on his page ( which has nada to do with my nitch ) another link is created. The worst part is that my anchor text is my main keyword and it goes directly to my homepage.

My site was really doing well then it began sinking and keywords that I was page 1 for are now page 3 or 4.

I dont think I can really recover because he continues to post more and create additional backlinks each day. I have made several attempts to contact the seller/webmaster both on warrior and regular emails with no reply.

If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know. This is literally keeping me up at night.

I am afraid I may have to start a new domain name and move the site to it, then just 302 the old name since it is on my truck and business cards.....

Read the OPS post man. He has already tried that. Time for more drastic measures.

      Yes it can. Unfortunately.

But even if they remove the backlink your ranking may not increase friend.

You should be getting quality naked links and pinging your site while u wait (check my sig for an offer that does this).

Absolutely no need to ping anything.

Just wait for your links to be re-evaluated and see what happens.

Actually mate, if he were to ping his site he would see rank improvements just from that.

Don't believe me try it yourself, pick a page your on page 2-3 for. Ping it daily for 2 weeks. Come back and then talk to me.

Seriously man, I dare you to try it.

Google is all about FRESH content. If you add it every other day and ping everyday I guarantee you will move up several positions. Just today I have moved up one clients site simply from doing this from page 2 to #3 on the first page and have quadrupled there traffic.

Best part? I did it free for them because im awesome.

Wheres your track record of ranking improvements that fast by doing all white-hat seo? Best of luck to the OP im outta here.

Even though that link will be removed from his site still there's no assurance that your rankings will regain (based on my experience though). The new feature of Webmaster tools which is the disavow link might help.

Dear Shannon: which pinging tool you will suggest. Is there an automated way to ping all my pages. It is a big site with thousands of pages. Can i give it a text file of my site's urls and let it ping.

              I use http://www.pingmylink.com/

Just submit your Homepage URL and your sitemap.

Should index everything after 24-48 hrs

    Quit worrying so much!

One backlink isn't going to make that much difference. And if his site is still PR7, then that means it's probably looked at as an authority site in Google's eyes.

--What if this person linked to you even without your consent just like many sites do in their blog rolls as a resource?

If a few backlinks were that powerful, then we could sink our competitors by linking to them, right?

Just ask to get link removed......

And I wouldn't be purposely going after blog rolls anymore, if it happens naturally that's cool, you have no control over that.

I have had similar problems. Admittedly, I foolishly bought some 'high PR' Fiverr blogroll links last year. In the last few months, I have been writing to the sellers and asking them to remove them. One guy had a huge site with thousands of posts/pages(same as your situation) and he removed my link.

Another guy, I have written to him 3 times, he hasn't responded and my links remain. There are around 500 sitewide links as a result of the one blogroll link. I think I'll probably give the Disavow tool a try.

Really hope things work out for your site

          How would you know?

I haven't shown you what sites I've ranked. I love how everyone assumes my sig link site is ranked (I never claimed that nor have any desire to rank it) it's a personal blog idc who reads it.

In the future you know to ask what kind of link it is.

    Contextual?
    Sidebar?
    Footer?

    Site-wide?
    Home Page?
    Sub-page/post?

Please don't purchase SEO gigs from Fiverr.

You are asking to get penalized.

What happened is Google realized you were buying SEO (low quality at that) and penalized you.

Just spend some time increasing the quality of your backlink portfolio.

    UPDATE:

The webmaster of the site in question has removed all the links across the site were removed. They are still listed when I check webmaster tools. Any idea how long it will take google to deindex those links?

Try up to a month. I have several blogs and I do link testing back and fourth. I can remove a link and force webmaster tools to reindex the page and still see it on the other domain for up to a month.

This is in webmaster tools BTW but I think the offending juice from it goes away much earlier. Webmaster tools is very incremental so changes made wont show up in your dashboard for a few days to a few weeks depending one whatever cycle WT is using.

        I can't find it here....at least not outright...but
why is it "we" assume said link is the cause of such
        nonsense?

A lot of assumptions being made in this thread, along with
some pretty lousy, if not useless, info.
