Google Penalized Me As An XXX Site? WTF?

Hey,
I wrote a post recently about one of my sites dropping from 100K monthly visitors down to about 2K. Over the past four days, I've begun to notice a trend.

First of all, my website was a celebrity news & gossip site. We covered everything and anything. We covered the times where celebrities had XXX tapes leaked at some points. All in all, I would say that 1% of our posts were related to XXX tapes or porn, but we never hosted sexual images or videos.

As the traffic has now dropped completely, we are only being found by XXX related Google searches such as:

mily cyrus xxx
miley cyrus xxx
angelina jolie naked xxx
cobie smulders nude
miley cyrus xxx tape

It seems Google is penalizing us for being a 'potential' xxx site???

How do we resolve this?

Thanks.

If you are truly not an XXX site under Google's definition, then submit a reconsideration request or file a ticket on their webmaster forum.

Considering taking a look at the comments sections of your site -- where it's possible the offending links are being placed by spammers. Thus, the spiders that crawl your site and gather intel report back to Google that you've got a lot of outbound questionable links.

Also consider that your site could have been hacked; it would be wise to check your site's backdoor and see what's lurking under the hood!

It is possible that your backlinks have a lot of xxx sources. That may be the case.
