I have aged domain with keyword "online music" PR1, 8 years old.

Search Volume for "online music":

Broad Match: 5,000,000 Monthly Searches
Exact Match: 110,000 Monthly Searches

Would it be ok to use that domain name for music portal?

    Yeah, any domain is okay as long as your domain has no issues in the past. Make sure that it is not drop as it leaves a footprint to Google when you are using some techniques that violate there TOS.

      Google latest update is EMD(exact match domain) i am sure you know that,so i think you alter things with you domain name and apply it.
