I'm wondering if I'm over (or under) optimizing my on-page seo. I don't want to get hit by Panda, or whatever furry creature Google decides to roll out next.

Basically what I'm doing....

• I do NOT use an EMD. I use a generic domain that covers the niche.
• I do use Yoast SEO. I have it set up as Seen Here for those interested. Basically it's set to avoid duplicate indexing by Google and to give me the most SEO power it can.
• I have my keyword as my category (site.com/keyword/)
• I always use my keyword in my title (site.com/keyword/keyword)
• I put my keyword in my meta data for that page.
• The site is new, about two weeks old, in case you wanted to know.
• Importantly, I'm building content on four different keywords at once. My site is not full of one specific keyword.

And here's what an average post on Yoast's Page Analysis tells me... my notes are in the [brackets].

The images on this page are missing alt tags.
[I never add alt tags or any keywords to my images.]

No outbound links appear in this page, consider adding some as appropriate.
[I have a blogroll of authority sites in the niche in my footer.]

The page title contains keyword / phrase, but it does not appear at the beginning; try and move it to the beginning.
[Not sure about this one. I always put my keyword in the first 20-40 words, usually in the first 5, but I get this every time.]

The keyword / phrase appears in the URL for this page.
[Twice even, one for category, one for title.]

Keyword / keyphrase appears in 1 (out of 3) subheadings in the copy. While not a major ranking factor, this is beneficial.
[I always put my keyword in at least one h2-h4 tag. Sometimes twice, but that's rare.]

The copy scores 72.4 in the Flesch Reading Ease test, which is considered easy to read.
[My average score, pretty much.]

The keyword density is 1.56%, which is great, the keyword was found 6 times.
[I try to maintain around 1.5% - 1.7%. I do not go below 1% and I do not exceed 2%]

In the specified meta description, consider: How does it compare to the competition? Could it be made more appealing?
[My meta data is almost always an excerpt from the page that makes sense, makes readers interested, and always includes my keyword.]

The meta description contains the primary keyword / phrase.
[Yep, always. Sometimes twice.]

There are 586 words contained in the body copy, this is greater than the 300 word recommended minimum.
[I tend to write posts between 500 and 1,000 words on average. I'm always between 300 and 1,200.]

The page title is more than 40 characters and less than the recommended 70 character limit.
[Most of my titles are like: The Basics of keyword, or Commonly Asked Keyword Questions, or Simple Keyword Tips, etc etc etc.]

The keyword appears in the first paragraph of the copy.
[I always add the keyword to my first paragraph, usually twice if it makes sense.]


Well there you have it. Some good info for those who want to know some specifics about on-page seo and also my question in detail. Am I over optimizing? Does Yoast SEO over optimize in general? Am I going to be hit with a penalty if I don't change some things? If you need more info I'll do my best to provide it without giving away my niche/keywords/site.
