      I notice a huge drop in Facebook traffic since they introduced Promoted Posts feature so I'm not relying on Facebook to generate traffic that much anymore.

      OP: comment on niche related forums, blog commenting, twitter, youtube etc. are only a few that you can do to get traffic.

    Promoting a travel site is in essence promoting any site. It is a little difficult with so many travel sites around. Promote your site as a local travel agency in your city.

    Most of the time travel site will get a lot of traffics by posting quality contents on their site like some tips, travel destination, experience on their travel and etc. When you post like this on your website, visitors will come and will love to read your site. Trust me, I have a friend that have travel site and that's what he only do to get a lot of traffics

    Now with he new google updates that we had the past year... it is very important to focus on quality of our sites. I have increase the ranking of my sites after penguin and panda updates because I focus on the quality...

    first think about the users and then SEO...

    For example, if you do link building... only get links from sites in your niche...
    Not any travel sites but sites related to your destination.

    if you are in New York.. you can get links for travel sites about New York...
    think if the link to this website is interesting for the users of this site... this is the trick

    you can check for example... my travel to Paris website.. I have a directory to ONLY websites about Paris: Paris Links
    I do not accept links from other destinations...
