Here's how i doubled traffic on a travel site

I make websites around travel attractions etc.

One of my sites was getting around 100 visitors a day. I did a content revamp and added loads of pictures on all pages along with captions.

Now the traffic stands at around 200 visitors a day!

Adding pictures has helped in getting more traffic from Google Images and many new visitors for the site too.

Just thought I will share this info may be useful for you.


PS: If you don't have images you can either use free creative common license images from sites like sxc.hu or purchase royalty free images from stock photo collections.

      That would be a good idea. Work with different variations of keywords. Something that has less competition.

    You can get street scenes in major cities, people in villages across the globe, great landscapes, etc.

      Well this site i had actually been to the trip so i got it from there. If you want to look at the images you can see at Goa Virtual Tour

      So i clicked these pictures. I think stock images are a good option too. if you have money to invest. Otherwise use creative commons images, there are tonnes of them in flickr and sxc.hu

    Good tips, I do most of my travel sites / travel blogging on places I've been to and I take a crapload of pics on vacation so I'm all good there. yeah ive heard how powerful pics on a site/blog are for search engines and trafic good to hear it really works

    Nice Trick. Most people over look the importance of Images. Even if you aren't getting any more traffic from search engines because of these Images, you should still use them because It makes the site a lot less dull and a lot more entertaining to your visitors. Chances are, with images they are more likely to come back.
