Anchor Text Diversity - 1000's of Backlinks With Blog User Name as Anchor!?...

Hi Guys,

So, it seems like with the recent animal updates, the anchor text diversity has became even more important.

While I was looking through one of my sites, I noticed my user name is the second most used term as my anchor text.

Its because that's my author/user name on the blog, which means when I reply to comments on my blog, that word is the anchor text of my link. Furthermore, it's the same when I comment on other blogs.

So, it got me thinking, what would Google view that as?...

I mean, is the algorithm smart enough to differentiate between a writer's name and an actual keyword?...

It would seem like every word would be a keyword in some way or another, so, having thousands of backlinks from other sites and internal links on my own site with the anchor text satrap (that's my user name), makes it look like I am targeting that word, doesn't it?...

I mean, I would assume that Google somehow can figure this out, but then again, the idea that any word is a potential keyword, targeted by a webmaster comes to mind, and I just can't figure out how this whole thing works.

Also, with all the talk about naked URLs and balancing the anchor text portfolio, this issue got me thinking about this - what if I change my name (on my own blog) and instead use the URL of the blog (naked link) as the name?... Have you guys thought about this?...

It's just baffling to me. I would love to hear your thoughts on this and perhaps about any experiment any of you might have done on this.

If you've noticed, a lot of synonyms are in the SERPS rather than exact match like before. This tells me google is getting better at understanding what your page is about. This is important to understand so you can focus on promoting you/blog rather than forcing google to rank specific keyword. Promoting with your name shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully I articulated that correctly.

That does make sense, I have been noticing exactly that. And I think it should be that way, I mean, millions of bloggers are faced with the same thing, so I would hope that is the case.

Thanks for taking time to reply.

    Anchor diversity is hogwash.

Keep getting the same links, same places, using different words, and
you think that makes a difference? It's just rearranging deck chairs
    on the Titanic.

It's just laziness and not wanting to take the trouble to do the
    right things.

"I heard a guy from another guy say my links are not working because
I use the same text. So, I'll just change it 1,000 times. That'll work!"

I am sorry, but when did I say getting the same links from same places, using different words matters and that I was aiming for that?...

I was just asking a simple question as I have been thinking about it for the past few days. Thats how some of us learn, asking and researching all the angles.

You dont even know me and what I do and don't do, yet you call me lazy, because I simply am contemplating about an idea/issue that came to my mind?...

Sadly, it seems like you are only here to bash people left and right. I have yet to see one single post from you where you weren't negative.

And dont tell me oh you dont want to hear the truth, you want sugar coded stuff just like rest of people here and all that BS. Telling the truth and constructive criticism is not the same as being an a...... to every one.
