Anchor Text Diversity - 1000's of Backlinks With Blog User Name as Anchor!?...
- SEO |
So, it seems like with the recent animal updates, the anchor text diversity has became even more important.
While I was looking through one of my sites, I noticed my user name is the second most used term as my anchor text.
Its because that's my author/user name on the blog, which means when I reply to comments on my blog, that word is the anchor text of my link. Furthermore, it's the same when I comment on other blogs.
So, it got me thinking, what would Google view that as?...
I mean, is the algorithm smart enough to differentiate between a writer's name and an actual keyword?...
It would seem like every word would be a keyword in some way or another, so, having thousands of backlinks from other sites and internal links on my own site with the anchor text satrap (that's my user name), makes it look like I am targeting that word, doesn't it?...
I mean, I would assume that Google somehow can figure this out, but then again, the idea that any word is a potential keyword, targeted by a webmaster comes to mind, and I just can't figure out how this whole thing works.
Also, with all the talk about naked URLs and balancing the anchor text portfolio, this issue got me thinking about this - what if I change my name (on my own blog) and instead use the URL of the blog (naked link) as the name?... Have you guys thought about this?...
It's just baffling to me. I would love to hear your thoughts on this and perhaps about any experiment any of you might have done on this.
