    Where are you located?

Many of the large firms here in Australia use Ezi Debit. Its completely automated and supports direct debit and credit card.

Paypal remains the best among others, but if you are looking for an alternative, then consider Payza and 2checkout. i have tried them out. they re good.

One thing many marketers forget. It's does not matter one bit what YOU like to use. It's 100% about what your potential CUSTOMERS like to use. Use the payment method your CUSTOMERS want to use. Not what YOU want to use.

      That's ridiculous.

You cant accommodate every customers preferred payment method, and you'd be foolish to try and attempt to do so.

Sorry if what I said was not clear to you. I did rush the post. Let me put it another way.

If the majority of your customers usually use PayPal, you should use PayPal. If the majority uses a particular credit card, you find a processor that excepts that brand.

It's all about numbers. The more you cater to your future customers wants and needs the better you will be off and the more money you will make.

I know... That's ridiculous! There! I saved you time by responding for you.

Hope that cleared things up a little better for you as to what I was trying to say.

I don't think it has much to do with the type of gateway payment you use, if you have a high refund or chargeback rate, any serious company will see you as a threat. Remember they also have laws governing them.

2Checkout seems to work pretty well IMO.

The only problem are their exorbitant fees.

Try Payza and 2checkout, clients like paying directly through credit card, so these two are great options.

  • I was in the same situation. I have been using paypal for my main payment processor. Just last week my account was closed for using multiple accounts (lol)

At the time i didn't know that it was against their terms of service to have a personal and a business account opened. Well that ended my business right there because every client i have ever worked with uses paypay exclusively. If you want my advice then don't offer seo services if your not going to use paypal. Your leaving so much money on the table. Reason is so many people trust paypal since their brand is so big.

So im getting out of the seo game for now and decided to attempt to sell my business.

    thanks.
If your sure that you want a SEO business for the long run and NOT some quick 1 to 2 month run then I would suggest you go with a merchant account like Authorize.net *or others they are all over* but they do have fees and make sure you don't get locked into a contract.

But best of all you get your payments directly to your bank account BUT like I said you have to be sure this SEO business is something your going to do for a while and ethically because if you don't deliver these customers will get charge-backs and the merchant account will charge an additional $35 per/charge back.

So as you can see there is quite a'lot to think about ,BUT if your serious then I do recommend a merchant account *be sure to ask them if you will be locked into a contract , also ask if there is a early termination fee, if they say yes ask if you can have it waived if they don't agree then find another merchant, because the typical early termination fee is $1,000 if your locked into a 3 year contract* make sure to due diligence on your preferred provider.

    best regards
    Anwar

Authorize.net is a payment gateway, not a merchant account.

    • I'd recommend using both Paypal and Square. That and of course allow clients the option to pay by check through the mail. Very few will go that route, but you want to have it as an option because some will prefer that. Basically, 90% will be fine with paying Paypal invoices, another 5% will be good with you taking their cc info over the phone and using Square or a comparable service, and the other 5% will want to mail you a check.

      Good luck to you!

Some things you might want to look for:
      • Integration with plenty of shopping cart platforms
      • Ability to take payments without redirecting customers
      • Several partner banks
      • Free 24/7 phone support
      • Global recognition
      • Effective anti-fraud tools
      Good luck!

      Kind regards,

Another option would be Braintree, which is an an online payments provider that can provide everything you need to accept online or mobile payments, including a payment gateway, merchant account, and recurring billing. We have recently expanded to Europe and Canada (you did not mention where you are located). We also allow merchants to settle in 130 different currencies. Check out our payment API or play in our sandbox. Disclaimer: I work at Braintree
