Hi all,

I have a 2 year old niche blog and for the first year and a half my Adsense earnings and clicks were quite good (average CTR and CPC). For the last 4 months or so my traffic has grown double and my search engine ranking are even better but I wont even get 1 click in 4000 visitors as opposed to the 2 clicks I'd get for every 100

It's like Google are happy with the blog but don't want their ads on it.

Any help?

Cheers guys

Do you presently have an active ad sense ads on your site?

There are lots of variables to making money from ad sense.

    1. An optimized ad sense template or HTML site, you don't expect to have ad sense ads setup poorly and promote other stuffs on your site and still bank some good funds monthly.

    2. From experience I can tell that some niche are more likely to receive clicks than others. For example, having ad sense ads on MMO site doesn't turn out too well because the visitors are more enlighten about ads like this unless the site is getting thousands of unique visitors daily.

    3. The CPC is another reason why your ad sense earnings could be low and several other stuffs.

But in your case I see poorly optimized ad sense site since the visitors are there. If true work on your site and don't be afraid to experiment, thats how a lot of is got there.

My last paragraph clearly states what could be wrong with your low CTR. A better site layout or redesign will improve your CTR.

In your Adsense Allow & Block Ads > Blocking Options > Advanced Settings do you have Interest Based Ads clicked? If so, turn it off. I found it made a huge difference.

From my own browsing experience I found that I was still being showed ads on stuff that I had been researching MONTHS in the past. Prime example, spring of 2011 I was looking for new outdoor light fixtures for my house. Did a ton of searching and research. I was still getting lighting ads presented to me last Christmas. And that is just crazy, but it made me think. So I turned off interest based ads and saw a jump in my clicks almost immediately.

Anyway, it's worth a try. It may or may not be the source of your problem.

I can only think of only two reason for this. Is it possible that some advertisers have excluded your website in AdWords targeting? Maybe your traffic didn't converted, clicks were of low quality ...? Second possibility is that some large advertisers have stopped their campaigns, which removed the best optimized ads. Now, Google is only showing low quality ads, which have a much lower CTR.
