Page Ranking Speed

I have heard some say that if your page ranks too fast Google will catch it right away and put the smack down on it. I have also heard of others say that they rank super fast for page 1 (a day or few weeks) with no problems.

So my guess is I am missing something. Are the pages that are saying if you rank too fast Google will smack you high competition keywords or niches and not EMD sites? Are the pages ranking super fast for pretty obscure keyword EMD sites and or micro niches?

Any help appreciated.

  • NOP. Google does not smack you down for ranking too fast. Page Rank is their own metric. They will not penalize you because they ranked your site too fast. It would look stupid. Wouldnt it ?

    Instead what they do is , if there is any suspicious activity like too fast link building, too many backlinks in short period etc. etc. they will penalize your site by not giving the page rank and dropping out of search results.
