You can get estimates from Quantcast.com, Compete.com and Alexa.com. These are only estimates based on extrapolating from limited information such as browser toolbar usage and small ISP logs, not actual known data.

You cannot actually find out how much traffic a competitor's site receives. Only they, and whatever web stats software they choose to use, know that information.

  • Karan Rawat,

You can use sites like compete and Alexa however (as mentioned by Dan), you must take the results from these sites with a grain of salt. The data is highly inaccurate. For example I put URL’s into compete’s website for which I already know what the traffic volume is and the numbers were way below what actual data says. The reliability of Alexa data is also very inaccurate. At best you can get a rough idea.

This post from SEOMoz talks about the unreliable data provided by some companies including Alexa,

    Hope that helps you,

I agree with Dan, the Alexa traffic rank is not to be fully relied on. To me it seems the major reporting sites have a problem updating their site data on a daily basis. A cursory look at this sites will reflect low traffic report which somehow might not be true.
I wish there were a Google tool to help independent assessment of a site data. It could help.
