Thought I'd share these:

The Disavow Tool Works! Real Sites, Real Recoveries!

Google Disavow Tool Released - We Tested It! - SEO Blog by Dave Naylor Part 2

I have to wonder why some SEOs continue to encourage clients not to use the tool.

{ Yes, I know why. }

As you're probably aware, these 'case studies' as you so generously called them are just marketing tactics for those particular SEO firms.

The idea is, you got a 'notice of bad links' from your last SEO agency. Now you should pay us because we'll clean you up using the disavow tool.

The 'tool' was released on the 16th. 9 days later recoveries have happened? Google has 'forgiven' the former 'bad sites' and is now rewarding them with newfound glory? All in less than a week and a half.

Anyone reading this would realize then, that the 'disavow tool' is the greatest asset black hat SEOs have ever had. Get your domain. Spam it as hard as you can, see where the limits are, and then 'disavow yourself' back in.

It's so generous that Google has given us a 'get out of jail free card.' I wonder what else they'll do for Christmas.

Both ..were beta testing the tool. They used it before the Oct 16th release date.

Both ..still had to remove considerable amounts of links IN ADDITION to using the tool to clear up the few that they couldn't get to. Not exactly get out of jail free.

This tool is applicable to site owners who have unnatural links or received links from negative seo that made their rankings decrease.

There is plenty of stupid customers in SEO, it's a good niche for sellers :-)

I tried this tool, no recovery yet, but at least Google now knows that I'm disassociating myself from the large organisation that used one of my JavaScripts in their template, leading to my getting 7000 black hat looking backlinks from an unrelated site.

Did you receive an 'unnatural links' message in GWT?

Yes and we know why you won't submit your bought links either. LOL. Like it or not the guys that you buy links from won't like it if you submit their links either.

but ummm no not one of those SEOs you claim to know about. Had no clients tank after Penguin or in any of the Panda updates. One or two EMDS but unless you can report your EMDs and have them reinstate at the top of the serps I'm cool.

So Google hired these guys as 'beta testers' for a tool that's designed to get SEO 'bad boys' back into the good graces of Google?

Sounds like Google's lost the plot here. In reality there's nothing stopping them banning these websites permanently like they do with Adsense sites.

I'm starting to think Matt Cutts is just 'pulling the wool' over the eyes of the SEO world.

Not to diminish this 'case study.' But online case studies really don't meet the stringent requirements used by other industries. Without more knowledge of the websites involved, there's not much to go on.

In any case, anyone who wants to use the DISAVOW Tool should knock themselves out! I personally don't have any clients who received an 'unnatural linking penalty' or who are penalized from 'bad links' so I have no dog in this race.

This is just a new niche like 'link removal' aimed at those business owners who can't stomach the shocking reality of buying a new domain name.

Honestly I don't believe shit of the beta tester case study, and when I read what the guy has to say I actually despite almost every single word. What a total wise guy loser that is.

I think the punchline was: If you are struggling with this penalty or have any questions about using the disavow tool, please let me know. At Branded3 we're continually advising businesses how to deal with these penalties and seeing lots of successes.

Just a 'guest post' trolling for business

Plus he gets a 'dofollow' link for his troubles.

Yeah I read both of the posts and in one of them it said something like they were testing Penguin safe strategies for the last 1.5 year. At that point I obvious stopped reading.

ps2: Actually I already wanted to quit reading after the guy said that he has no prove that negative SEO existed while I proved it to myself 6 years ago already when I bought a package of 5000 spammy links when I had no clue about SEO

And 1 year ago I proved it again after I spammed one of my own sites with 100.000 scrapebox/xrumer links and it tanked completely till date. From 25 uniques with hardly any seo to 0 for the rest of the year lol.

Yeah neg seo have been a myth for ages

              Let's not even mention Penguin

Now you tell me, what are unnatural links?

    - Spammy blog comments at unrelated sites?
    - 1000's of forum profiles created at all sorts of forums?
    - Blog posts at broad expired domains?

You know what's the funny part, all 3 can be unnatural, however reporting the blogposts at expired domains will not cause your rankings to reinstate, instead they will cause your rankings to drop even further when you report them to the disavow tool (unless they are at deindexed domains obvious).

While those private blog posts are in fact the most unnatural of all.

So you tell me, what are the unnatural links that Google is after and are they even able to detect the truelly unnatural links as described above?

I guess we both know the answer.

ps 95% of the SEO companies outside this forum buy and rebrand expired domains to rank their clients. The remaining 5% buy complete websites to put links on or contact webmasters to BUY links from them so how natural is that? Anyway unnatural links work perfectly, it's just wrongly executed spam combined with over optimized onpage factors what tanks websites.
