.us domain ex vs .com domain ex :)

Hey guys, did i mention how much i love you guys? ok sorry back to the question.

i wanna get a domain name but the .com, .org and .net extension are taken.

so i am thinking, since my target audience will be those residing in the US. will it be better to get the .us domain?

If it is better why wouldnt others just get the.us domain? this domain will be easier to rank in the US right?
am i getting everything right? please help me clear my mind. HAHA

    .US requires verification. And anything other than the top3 league (com/net/org) is not viewed by the visitor as the authentic sites. Google always said they did not differentiate among extensions but several webmasters have observed that .com/net/org are easier to rank than the other extensions.

    To register a .US domain you should be either US Entity / US Business Entity or organizations. and you must provide a valid email address.

    .com is better to rank in google or you can choose org,net.
