What would you do with a brand new site?

For SEO purposes; have a blog attached to the site? or have a separate blog with a main keyword in the domain name with a link to the main site?

The site is a brand site so does not have the keyword in the url.

Thanks!

I agree... it adds fresh content on a regualr basis. Use inner-linking from your blog posts to relevant other content on your website.

    A few questions...

With the regards to the site, is it going to be a static site that won't normally be updated?

Or will it be regularly updated and the blog is mainly a platform for you to communicate with your customers?

Hi MM, thanks for your reply,

I would have the blog attached to the site. It would improve the sites authority in google eyes because there is more and frequent content.

But some competitors have separate blogs with keywords in the title and seem to get on page one on the domain alone...

Keep it attached to the site. Best option!

  • It is recommended to incorporate the blog into your site. Interlink your pages, write about your products and services, and share your posts on social networks and social bookmarking sites. This way those who visit your site will have access to your blog and vice versa.

Attach it to your site for sure! It gives you ever-growing content, and blog posts are MUCH better link bait than your main site. I tweet, FB, and LinkedIn all of my blog posts and this results in many retweets, etc., which is more links to your inner pages.

  • Shanti10,

As mentioned by other members, keep the blog under your main domain. This is the best way to promote your website, drive traffic, and get it ranking higher in SERP’s.

What would be the homepage usage? If it's only a pure blog then no need to create or attached other site. Make the homepage as your blog section.
