Do we actually gain from gray hat SEO methods?

Although SEO experts might say that gray hat SEO acts as a kind of bridge between white and black hat SEO, do we actually benefit from it in the long run? Can we dispense with it altogether? Gray hat SEO seems to have no say on quality backlinks either.

    I hate the whole "white/gray/black" hat SEO thing. According to Google Webmaster TOS, *any* attempt to artificially increase your site's ranking is prohibited, which means *ALL* SEO is technically black hat!

      Yep. The only 'White Hat' thing you can do is pay them for AdWords

    Well, I don't hate these words at all They are just a name that categorize as the Good and Evil Any you can apply grey hat for your tier 2 links and yes you can benefits from it in the long if you know how to use it.

    It all seems black hat except for blog writing on or offsite with links to the page your trying to rank. Also directories and forum posts as well.
