SEO Experts - Should I go after this keyword?

When searched in google, the number of results are:

822,000,000 without quotes
5,000,000 in quotes
7,000 allintitle

There is one site in the top ten that has a PR0. It seems doable but just wanted to make sure.

Cheers!

The above means nothing. WSOs, Software companies that don't understand SEO, and wannabe gurus have sold to the masses that those are important

    7,000 allintitle
    Still means little

There is one site in the top ten that has a PR0
Thats the only metric that you stated that has real value and it may or may not indicate weakness. ALl depends on where that PR0 is showing and what the other pages are showing in PR , title targeting and anchor text.

Even the PR0 info. isn't much help, maybe the page hasn't had the PR updated recently?

Look at the ranked pages internal/external links.

There is no way you could judge this just by these numbers. There is so much more to analyze and after all, you can never be sure how you will rank.

How many banana images are on the third page? That's the true ranking metric.

Ignoring any metrics, any keyword is doable if you have enough resources to throw at it.

"doable" is an extremely subjective term.

It looks very competitive to me. I wouldn't have gone for this particular keyword.

But Yea, I agree with UMS, any keyword is doable. If you have time and can put your effort. You should go for it

As others have said the numbers you're quoting don't mean too much in isolation. You need to get an idea of how well optimised your competition is. Even the PR0 site may have done a lot of work to get there, but Google just hasn't updated their PR. Try looking at all the ranking factors for the top results. You'll need to match those if you're going to get there. This will give you a better idea of what work is involved.

Look at the first page of results. Check the PR, number of backlinks (and where the backlinks are coming from), and age. Every search term is different and it's not that simple to calculate competition knowing the keyword. Predicting competition based on the information you provided is not possible to do accurately.
