I recently purchased an exact match domain for my keyword. Its an organic one has the keyword as the domain name.

Just because the domain name is exact match with your keyword it does not mean google will penalize ( or not rank) your website.

Latest Google EMD has actually targeted those websites that were ranking solely based on the power of EMD but were giving poor content to the user. If you make sure the content on your site is quality content then you can actually harness the power of the EMD domain also.

Having an EMD is not a dead sentence. you have to have useful contents on different subject (keywords) and you also need to update your page regularly.

There have been a lot of EMD's that have been hit for no reason. (At least, according to people here & elsewhere.) But I personally wouldn't worry too much about it.

Is it a dot com domain. I've found my EMD dot coms were okay but in it had dashed in or was a dot net extension then they dropped a bit. Also how many keywords are in the domain? the more then the risk now I reckon.

EMD's are dying out my friend, now you are far better off going for an Authority website in your niche

As long as you don't build a site that is trash you will be fine.

Build a good site and get some high quality links to it and you'll be good to go.

I have an EMD site that built several months ago. It has some unique contents (about 20+) and some backlinks. I have not update it for about 2-3 months. Still ranks on top 3 on the EMD keyword though

Sounds like more of an authority sight with 20+ pages of content. Are you targeting different keywords for each page? How many words do you put on each page?

      Thanks

Its not an authority IMO, its just site that selling food products. for each page maybe about 100 - 200 words. Yes I'm targeting different keywords for each page, but I just optimized for EMD keywords only, because it has much more large LMS

Depends on a ton of factors. But yeah an EMD is much better for ranking that specific keyword. You just have to make the domain content legit and you're good to go.

EMDs just lost a bit of their advantage, they still do provide an edge when targeting a particular keyword, but you have to have a quality site to back it up....google only wants to serve up quality! focus on pleasing your users and google will find out and rank you....

    Mate. Relax.

    Take two deep breaths.

    Alright,

EMDs are still good my friend. You can use them and rank very well with them. Google has not even close to penalized someone strictly for having an emd.

They have penalized for low quality EMD sites.

As long as you have GOOD content, quality back links and continue to add content regularly your website and rankings will improve and Google will love your website.

One of my EMD's got hit, the other one shot straight up. The one that shot up only had like 4-5 posts. I just hope to get some clarity from this EMD stuff regardless how Googs weighs them.

My feeling though is it may be a good thing if EMD's are less weighted. There's a lot of good EMD's that are not being put to use by people who just bought them and now are squatting on their parked domains. Most times with Google, I'd just rather know with some certainty what they're going to do, so I have some sort of plan and don't waste precious time and resources into a losing battle.

I have an EMD I put up this summer...It has only 1 article and is ranking 1-3 for keyword, giving me about 60 uniques a day. Another EMD : 2014xxx.com is still #1 and also less than 1000 words of content (not getting many hits, as I am waiting for 2014 )

It survived Panda and Penguin just fine...It's PR 0 brand new site.

I think the whole Google hates EMD+4 page sites is just total speculation like anything else with google. Dont believe it.

If your article subject is totally unique and you don't spam your EMD keyword throughout your site, youll be ok
