Hi,

I consider to build a video site.

But I have some questions:

Should I use YouTube and embed YouTube videos on my site, or should I upload my own videos on my own server?

If I should use YouTube:

Should I put the "transcriptions of the videos" on the description below each YouTube video, or should I put the "transcriptions of the videos" on my own website like an article?

Should I "unist" my YouTube videos, or not?

yeah use the embed feature on youtube, that way you don't use your servers bandwidth. And make a link under video to a relevant site.

  • Providing the transcriptions for the videos would be a great plus to get visitors because many people in world are not very good at understanding spoken english.I don't think you should write video transcriptions at the article, but I think you should provide a summary or some other content in the article that is related to the video.

In your YT settings there is a tab - Captions. YT automatically generates a 'machine transcript' which is rarely correct, but you can download, edit and reload - this might same you some time!

Don't build a youtube video site. You most likely will violate TOS
of adsense by violating rules of youtube.

Get a youtube channel, see if you can use adsense on your
      videos.

I am not sure why people don't know that violating youtube
terms, with adsense, violates adsense TOS.

You cannot seek to become a twin, mirror, or replacement site
for youtube, simply putting youtube videos on a site.

Hence, people have youtube channels, not youtube "sites."

Sure, some get away with it, but why take the chance?

Now you can use a different form of video, and have at it.

        @Paulgl:
The thing I don't like with only using YouTube is that, when someone watch my video, they are not on my website, and they may easily click off from my video to other's videos. Because not my videos, but other's videos are listed as "related videos".

What I thought, is to embed my own videos on my website, and write an "article version" (or transcsription) of the video below each videos on my website. And put some ads around my website.

Is it against AdSense TOS and/or YouTube TOS??

On Search Engines, I have seen some pages appear on Search Results where the page have a YouTube video embedded, where the video is "Unlisted" on YouTube.

What do you think about using the "unlisting" feature?

My advice to you is to make the site through YouTube. Otherwise it will so much costly... However, you cannot use the Adsense on the website. But ofcourse you can use the link within the videos..
    Good luck..

As long as you use videos that you have the rights to use you will be fine.

However one copyright complaint and you can pretty much kiss your Adsense account goodbye.
