  • Warrior John,

This is a very large question. I would echo what NPmaster has said. However, there are some ways to take things into your own hands to begin generating traffic and links. A shortlist of a few of the ways to begin would linclude:

    *rss feeds
*use of free site and blog platforms (such as wordpress.com and blogspot.com)
    *social bookmarking
    *social networking
    *article publishing
    *blog commenting
*publishing videos on sites such as YouTube
*controlling and focusing internal linking structure of your site(s)
*generating interest on forums of concern to your niche area

I hope this helps a bit to get you started.

    Best,
    Evan

    • Hey,

Would you mind specifying why exactly social bookmarking appears to be a site-killer? I never heard of that and would appreciate additional information.

      Regards.

  • How longs a piece of string? Every site will differ and there are hundreds of different factors that can affect the outcome.

Best thing to do is regularely add new content and gradually build relevant one way links to your site.
  • It's all about getting backlinks with the appropriate anchor text for your target phrase.
  • You have to do Onpage Optimization and Offpage Optimization

It Depends on they keyword you are targetting but keep these in mind "HASTE IS A WASTE"

you can earn backlinks from the following method in order to be on top

    1. Article Submission
    2. Blogging
    3. Social Bookmarking / Networking (For Traffic)
    4. Press Release
    5 Directory Submissions

    • Hey there - depends how competitive your keyword is.

It is super easy to get on Page 1 of google for like ALL 10 spots if not many people search on it.

e.g. - if you google one of my marketing companies

Wildhorse Performance Marketing - you can use web 2.0 / social media / press releases to dominate 1st page of google..

(just reverse engineer what I did to get all 10 spots on google for that)

I call that 'jet fighter SEO'-

Now- for a competitive longtail keyword -

well ol' standby as others have said here in the post - high quality backlinks!

I call that 'battleship SEO' as that is what you are doing - you need heavy artillery and it takes longer (e.g. - took my marketing company over 7 months of solid heavy backlinks, and combined with social media to battle against a PR6 authority site that was on number 1 of google page 1...and if I stop the backlinks...I lose the number 1,2, 3, 4 etc. spots on page 1 organically.

So you need both in short for more competitive stuff ..

Your battleship SEO (backlinks, unique content) with also sending out your 'jet fighters' (social media, web 2.0 sites) to go in and out quickly. Otherwise your 'page 1 ' rankings that got onto google page 1 with social media drop off page 1!

      Hope that helped!
  • I am just repeating what others have said, because it's that important, back links, back links and more back links. Also, just as important is back links with the proper anchor text.

As for the different search engines I don't think there is a need to do anything special for any of them. Good SEO and I rank for the big three.

One thing I don't think was mentioned, comments on blog that are dofollow. You can often get back links from more on-topic pages.

For sure RSS can be a big help. Even better it can give back links to deeper pages that might not normally see link love.

Want to find places to get possible back links, use Google alerts. Put in your keyword and get daily reports
  • You need to leverage a host of on-page and off-page optimization techniques.

Coming to the top on google depends on what keywords you are targeting and what is the level of competition associated with them.

Quality backlinks can be obtained from paid directory submissions, article submissions, link exchanges (to name a few)
  • 1. Tons of Quality Content and Link
    2. 2 weeks up to 3 months, it depends on the competitiveness of the targeted search term
    3. You can get links thru performing SEO techniques

  • If you have a new website then you have to wait. A new website can get good rankings for less competitive keywords but it usually takes about 6 months to gain the minimum level of trust that is necessary to get high rankings.
