Backlinking PROBLEM - HELP ME

Dear Forumers,

I have a problem. I have created an online MLM marketing website, and I started to make backlinking, but for 2 weeks none of my backlinks show up. Today I tried to make a blog post to a relevant site, and this message came up:

It appears that you are offline or another error occured contacting the API url, have you set it to use www or missed the www off the api url?? check the technical settings and add or remove www from the api url.

I think something is not good with my website, that's why I do not recieve the backlinks. My hosting is at Hostgator, their support found no problem in the PHPAdmin nor in my WP Settings. They think maybe one of my plugins can make the problem... I have One In All SEO, Facebook - Twitter Boxes, and a few more.

I would appreciate if you would tell me what to do,
Thanks,
Gabor

    Well, Your site is being indexed by Google so I think you should carry on building links for your website and you would soon start seeing ranking improvements.

    Where are you trying to see backlinks?

    Google doesn't list them very often, use open site explorer or majestic seo. They update once a month usually.

    I do see one potential problem. You have a canonical tag on your homepage pointing to your blog page, that can have quite a bad impact.

    <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.networkergeek.com/mlm-blog/" />

    That tag that you have on your homepage basically tells the search engines that any links pointing to your homepage should go to the blog page. You will want to remove that from your homepage. Backlinks are counted towards your domain even if you dont have that domain registered at all. Of course it won't rank until you put some content and it returns a 200 status.

          Backlinks get implemented into search results probably around 3-7 days after googlebot crawles that page that points to your site. They kick into effect earlier than they show up on most tools. A good indicator that they kicked in is a change in position in rankings.

          Don't sit around refreshing backlink checkers all day.. even if the link appears, your position has long been adjusted by then. Improve your website and think of ways to market your site.

          And as for your error, I don't know which service would throw that error. It would be helpful if you'd post links.

    It would depend on the Wordpress plugins you have installed and activated. I would guess that one of the plugins you installed allowed you to configure your meta tag settings, so you'll need to either edit those settings by opening the Plugin settings page or you might have an option to edit page specific meta tags by opening the page under "Pages" and see if there is an option to edit your meta details there.
