When leaving comments on blogs to build backlinks, should I only use my URL in the provided field along with name and email, or should I leave a contextual link in the actual body of the comment?

  • I would look at the previous comments and you will see what the weblog owner accepts. While somebody may allow putting link in the comment, others may consider it spammy and delete your comments. Btw. if you are going to comment blog for SEO purposes, keep in mind that most blogs are nofollow.
  • Leaving a link in the comment itself is usually a guaranteed way to get the comment denied. There are a few blogs where you'll see others successfully doing it, but they are pretty rare. (And usually "auto approve," which means they're most likely spammed-to-death and useless.)
  • Anywhere as long as the url that you are sharing is related to the topic that the blogpost are talking about. It maybe a source to proved your comment or a related to the topic.

    Regards,

    • Don'n include links in your comment unless they are related to that what you have posted (third party sources, references, etc). Add credible sources and use appropriate anchor text when necessary.
