Why is my Alexa Ranking going up?

Quick Question to the PROS.

I have started a new website...my Alexa Ranking now is 4.8M....this week, it was at 4.9M, 4.7M and now its up to 4.89M why is this??

I am getting paid traffic daily from Worldwide, the majority is from USA...

can someone explain to me this?

Alexa Ranking has nothing to do with general traffic and in fact most traffic does not even register with Alexa, this becomes a bigger problem the less tech-savvy your users are. Alexa uses data from its toolbar and a few other undisclosed sources to figure out the ranking.

I will say for most cases (98 out of 100) Alexa Ranking does not matter, in fact I have only found 2 areas where gaining an income from your site that having a good Alexa Ranking matters. If you are doing just Adsense I would not even worry about it but if you are into selling ad slots directly or through 3rd party sources then it matters.

Don't worry about it. Alexa isn't accurate and doesn't mean anything, trust me. Just focus on promoting and optimizing your site to get traffic and providing quality content.

Hey Nelapsi, thanks for the info ..im building a site to get ad slots, not selling any kind of product...so guess i have to get my alexa ranking up..ill use one of these services on WF, i found...alexa is weird..not even showing my backlinks...i did a backlink check with majestic and it shows 257 links..Alexa only shows 4.

Alexa Ranking does not have much to do with the promotion, just stick on promotion of your site and focus on improving PR of the site.

when purchasing traffic..you have to be specific ( i think)
I have seen a website where they sell worldwide traffic @ let say $5 and on the far right they have one speciliazed traffics for alexa rankings @ lets say starting from $8

do a search abt that

Ignore alexa ranking out of your planning. It will crack your mind. It keep changing everyday and it depends on the number of visitors you are getting everyday. It has nothing to do with SEO and traffic generation. It is an only a statistic producer website of the websites.

When i started newly online Alexa ranking worried me a lot, but within a short time i notice that it has nothing to do with my business. Why?
Because alexa ranking sometime bases on the toolbar on someone's website, and also so of the traffic you get may not be register on their site. Forget about Alexa ranking and focus on getting traffic to your site.

Alexa rank changes many times up and down everyday. They do not provide guarantee for anyone for better ranking everyday LOL, stats increase and decrease totally depend you how your site performs.

It's been a long time since I checked my alexa ranking on my sites, not bothered anymore, I d rather have 1000 regular readers than 20 000 2 secs visitors who don't give a dime of my work
