Your questions depend on a lot of variables. Do you have a website? What is the domain name? What content is on the website? How old is the website? Who are your competitors and what have they done for seo?

I see you are new here so you can email me if you want at momakmak<<AT>>aol dot com

I can analyze your local niche for you.

If you're targeting local traffic then sometimes Google places will be eating up the number 1 spot and taking up all of the visible page. In that case you'll need a Google places listing to get that #1 visibility.

However if there aren't a bunch of google places hogging the search results you can achieve the #1 spot via having your website structured correctly with the right keywords, image tags, headers, page titles etc as well as getting quality links to point to your pages.

    Best of luck

You don't need any of the tools you have bought. In fact they're more likely to harm you than hurt you if not used right.

Also getting the word out locally is not all about seo and ranking in google. There are more effective things you can do locally.

As far as showing up in google goes it depends on your competition. You only need to be better than them.

Start reading the threads here and also few good blogs about SEO if you want to do SEO yourself. How hard is it rank 1 on google depends upon which keywords you target. If you target some very low competition keywords like the name of your shop or local keywords it wont take much time to reach there.

How to get Google Rank 1...
    > Make your URL readable and more specific format
    > Have unique keyword and description meta tags to all your pages.
    > Use Google webmaster tools to see if you have any duplicate meta tags.
    > Use Google Analytics to see where your users are coming from and what it's coming from.
    > Have your own blog to create fresh content, which boast your PageRank. If you dont have new domain use the subdomain for your blog.
    > submit your home page to some paid directories.
    > use social media like facebook, twitter etc to spread your website name
