Why is my YouTube video "stuck" in the search rankings?

I started building some links (and social bookmarks) for a YouTube
video about six weeks ago. Over the first few weeks, my video
moved from the very bottom of page six to the very bottom of
page one. Needless to say, I was quite pleased!

But over the last three weeks, my YouTube video has not even
gained a single position in the search rankings. Do you happen to
know why this might be? Why is it that my video now seems to be
"stuck" in the search rankings?

Links and social bookmarking alone isn't enough.

Are you building the social metrics (Facebook shares) and the "Likes" on your video as well?

No -- I have been afraid to. Mainly because I've also heard that the amount
of time a person spends viewing your video is important to the serps. I fear
that visiting my video for two seconds, clicking the "Like" button, and then
moving on to another web page will actually do more harm than good.

There are some Fiverr gigs that will give me 100 "Likes" to my YouTube
video, but again, I fear that some bot will show up on my video URL
for two seconds, click the "Like" button, and then close the browser
window. (Anyone happen to know if this would help or hurt me? Again,
I've heard that Google pays attention to how long users will watch a video).

It might be that those already ranked on page 1 are also optimizing their sites. Have you taken a closer look on how well your competitors are optimized? I'm sure you know that it's usually more difficult to gain rank on page 1 than before, so just keep building quality links and you will go up eventually, all you need is a little patience.

it's getting harder to rank video on youtube nowadays.
scrapebox and bookmarking only won't work these days

There are actually other factors that might have affected the ranking position of your YouTube video. Aside from back linking efforts and social bookmarking, you also need to consider the title, description, tags, transcription, your channel authority, and the delivery of your video or the quality of its content. You should check if the these factors and make sure that each of them would stimulate the interests of the viewers and they are exactly what the viewers look for. Otherwise, the viewers would just ignore your video and wouldn't even bother to take a peek on it. Thus, you would get less views and the search ranking position of the video would be decreased, if not retained.

Try other link building method James. Social bookmarkings alone can't help your video increase its ranking.
