Keyword in Domain Name and Relevant Content (Relevant to the Keyword), both are equally important in Google's view. Even if you have Exact Match Domain Name and If the content is irrelevant, Google may not rank your site well.

    Nothing will happen.
Don't worry about it and don't get hung up on things like this.

My sentiments exactly. My one blog's domain name is my first two initials and my last name .com That's not a keyword! My domain is ranked based on the links I get back to it on a variety of anchor texts, which aren't my name.

You might apply topic bridging for that. It means that you need to connect or make your domain related to the content. If your domain is about games and the content is about sports, you need to make a connection.

Since Google reduce value of the EMD for SERP (search engine ranking position) of any keywords at Google, values of all EMD are equivalent to domains non EMD for increasing ranking position on any keywords. You need acquire backlinks and unique content either EMD or non EMD to rank.

You still can rank other keyword at a EMD that not related to the other keyword.

Content is more important than your domain, but you don't want to confuse your actual users. If your domain is something like "hotels-in-orlando" and the site is about the latest video game news, it may make for a bizarre user experience.

My advice is to think about your end users. As long as the domain doesn't throw them off, they keyword issue probably won't be a problem.

      That it would.

I forgot what the actual domain was. But one day I was looking up plumbing supplies and came a cross a site in google . I know it was something like plumbingsupplies.com

It had someones name in front of it so let's just say joesplumbingsupplies.com

The name wasn't Joe's it was some other name. Anyway that supposedly plumbing supply website turned out to be a sex toy store.

Now that was an irrelevant domain for that store. xd

Unless you are an aged and established authority website, you will probably not rank at all.

Just one thing... Why do you have a domain with a keyword that is not related to the on page content?

So you run http://banana.com and then write 100 articles on apples?

    Nice.

        Hi Obosh,

You are right, my site is about computer, i want my domain name is brandable. So i want my domain name is pcxyz.com, or bestpc.com.
"pc xyz" almost no search volume, on the other hand "best pc" has a lot of search volume. But "pc xyz" and "best pc" will not appear in my site contents.

because best pc has high search volume, and it don't appear in my site contents, can Google punish my site?

        thanks

I don’t think google is going to punish you for brandable name….
Even if you write about “apple” in a “banna.com” google or search engines are not going to punish you (if you have quality content about apple in your banna.com)

Keywords in domain names help your CTR (Click Trough Rate) in Search Results (as searchers thinks/feels site is relevant to his search)...user experience....people like to read about banana in banana.com not about apple....domain name has little to do with your SEO or SE… Exact Mach Domains or Keyword Rich domains are not that important nowadays….

There are thousands of examples where people did/are doing better (as webmaster) with brandable name than keyword rich name….

          Google/SE cares about quality/content….
