Ranking a Press Release

I have an account with PRWeb where I have unlimited releases and they end up generating a good amount of traffic to my website. Has anyone hear ever ranked a press release? What I mean by that is have a press release steadily rank in the top 3 for your targeted keyword.

The release is on news.yahoo.com so at the moment I am just blasting it with links. Is this pretty much the course of action?

    just a stand alone press release? Unless the User types in a phrase VERY SIMILAR to the release it is virtually Impossible. Even If It is a close search... its Unlikely. Your Best Shot if you want traffic is to Drive it via PPC

      Yes a stand alone press release. I have had a few in the top tens for weeks now but want to get one in the top three. I figured a mega site like yahoo could take thousands of crappy links that would help it rank.
