WP Ping plugin?

I read a post here which recommends to use cbnet ping optimizer to control your pinging. Do you recommend using this plugin or not, after adding more ping sites to the list in Wordpress? I ask because it's often recommended that you keep the number of plugins down a minimum.

I strictly avoid any kind of pinging whether its to get your posts indexed or your backlinks. And frankly speaking i haven't experienced any difference in index rate when using or not using pinging.
