Yes you can do less but do better which you doing. That means make it some quality links, not bulk spam links

Buy a few PR6 and 7 contextual links and that's all you really need.

You can work on Yahoo answers, guest posting, press release etc. You can create blogs.

Don't stress too much about all that stuff - get links where you can and when you can and don't over do it, and you should be fine.

look at your competitors. Look at what they are doing.

look for the tough keywords, see what the pros are doing.
