Hey guys I have a product site that promotes a product on Amazon. I have 5 keywords that are ranking #1. I got my keywords up to rank #1 by setting up a link pyramid for each keyword. My lowest tier is fed by blog comments, and profile links. the system has worked well for me. I would like to move on a create another site. I don't my rankings of my first site to slip down while i'm working on my 2nd site. so my question is are there any tips that anyone has that will keep my keywords @ #1. Do i have to keep backlinking with tedious blog comments and profile links everyday? or are there any other things i can do to keep my rankings @ #1 where I don't have to do it everyday?

Pour some cement on your keyboard, should do the trick.

I am sure your rankings will be nowhere if you continue that kind of link building. Try to build quality links instead of that crappy type of link building. Once you do that you don't need to worry about dropping you rankings and you can continue on building your next site.

I completely agree with Ronnie. Unfortunately these old methods do not work in the latest Google algorithms and I am worried for you, that all the work that you are doing will become a waste of time because when Google finally crawls your backlink profiles, you will get penalised by Google. Also it is now known, when Google penalise a website, the link provided from the penalised website to your second tier website will be worthless because Google remove the value.

I would take Ronnie's advice and start looking at more quality links rather than web spam.

If you really have quality content then being #1 in the SERP in itself will provide you with all of the backlink support you need to maintain that ranking I have found in my experience. An example of this is users this last week have created 560 back links for me, this tells me I am providing what want and they are telling their friends.
