Web directory link Removal

Hi Folks

I am facing one very big problems from the web directories in my sites ranking.

I am having few keyword rich domains and I have created mini sites as blog where i update all my content on regular basis.

Previously all my mini sites were ranking in Top 5 from the Main keyword as it was in Domain name. But some one has done anti SEO to my site and have placed my site in all the web directories with wrong Anchor text.

This is causing me a very big drop in my ranking I am moved to page 4 and 5 for those keywords.

I do not do any web directories submission because it is just waste of time. I have send few emails through contact us pages but its not working.

Guys please suggest me what to do with this situation ?

  • You have three options

    1. Use a link removal service like linkdelete.com to remove links from the lower quality directories.
    2. Login and update anchor text on directories that you can
    3. Create diversified links (which you should have done anyways)

  • Quite silly to blame directories for a drop in rankings, IMHO.
  • I think the Google Disavow links will help? I believed the anti-seo using web directory links will NOT affected your rankings if your site has a lot of quality links than crap links built by your competitors.

  • If those directory moderators are not replying, then don't worry! Google's disallow link tool will help you out. Submit all those malicious links to Google using this tool and they will eventually ignore those links while ranking your site next time

    • Yes. Disavow is good tool to tell google ignore bad links.
  • Do you regularly check your google webmaster account? If there is no any google warning then i say do not worry about that until you are notified unnatural/bad link by webmaster tools. If your site drops ranking it may be a normal fluctuation
  • I wanted to respond to this as there has been quite an uproar since google has been giving out these warnings. Many directory links are good when they are from a well edited directory. The bad links are from these directory networks offering 100 directory links too often found as WSOs here or elsewhere that are problematic. Over at phpLD we often get link removal requests from people who think we own the directory because they are running our software. Unfortunately, we can't control the content that goes into the directories, and just like Wordpress or other software, it can be used for making a quality site or a crappy site. However, we get enough requests that I had to make a Directory Link Removal FAQ so I didn't have to write a separate message for each request. We get at least a couple per day.
  • I would suggest you manually remove the links. It will consume some time, but you can b sure of getting all the spam removed. Also create link with different anchor texts.
  • Is your domain really this valuable? Maybe just get a new domain and go again.
