Does Google read Javascript?

I have a remote JavaScript file I want insert into all my sites within the sidebar. This JavaScript will trigger a list of URL's included in my network.

It will display as a list of links and it will be on all the sites within this network. This is only meant for traffic sharing, it's like a link resource for your website visitors. All sites are related to each other.

If I would add those links normally, and Google spiders them then I think you will get a penalty for linking to each others website, your site gets banned, I'm pretty sure. I just want my readers to offer them different sites within the same niche. And in turn it will share traffic. This is the way the Internet was meant to be right?

My question is... can Google read JavaScript (i guess it's not difficult for them) and what will happen. I think I'm just afraid of Google punishing my sites. It's really sad one has to think about this what Google all cannot do to your sites.

SE bots do not normally execute JavaScript.

Yes I know, but what's your opinion if they eventually will ban your site or not? Maybe use a nofollow tag also to be on the safe side.

      That's not entirely true.

Both javascript & flash can be coded to get indexed in the SERPs.

I've seen basic javascript indexed & I've seen flash that pulls data from a remote xml file get indexed. For the flash remote file it's not the actual xml file getting indexed, that's proven because you can serve multiple chunks of content to multiple flash pages from a single xml file. Google will display each chunk of xml content per individual page (from a single xml file).

Javascript & flash are not one size fits all as far as SEO, it all depends how the javascript or flash is setup.

The easiest way to verify is to run your code, get the page re-indexed & check the Google Cache (text version). Run the code on a test site If needed.
