Do you have to have htm or html in the url to rank well?

All my urls have the following structure site.com/date/page title

There is no html in the url. Can this be bad for SEO or does it not matter?
#htm #html #rank #url

Makes no difference. Why would it? What it ends with
is for server/browser settings. Normally without
an extension, it means directory. You have to do some
internal settings for this to not be the default.

In the real world, every webpage viewed most likely has
some type of 2-3 letter extension. htm and html are both
the same, actually. They tell the browser that it is a straight
    forward html page.

There is no reason to ever change settings to eliminate the
    extension. Relax.

no, having the htm or html at the end makes zero difference in terms of seo and page rank. In fact, it's better that you don't have that extension, because it's easier for someone to type in url and have it go to your page. Versus, if you did have the html extension and someone types in your url into browser without the "html" then they get an error.

Nobody types in urls. That's crazy. Without the extension, the world assumes
it's a directory. Internal settings, for some wanted reason, can change this.

It is NOT better to not have it. That makes absolutely no sense anyway.

      Nobody types in urls. Period.

People type in domains, and you do not need to type in /index.html or
whatever it uses. Like the WF. It uses warriorforum.com/index.php
But you do not need to type that part in.

I assume you just have little, or none, experience in writing web pages,
      and server settings.

Nobody in their right mind is going to get people to type in a url, except in
rare cases. I've seen TV ads where they say to go to domain.com/TV
But that is for internal record keeping to count how many the ad got to
go there. Then page forwards to the real page.
