How do you build a site that is safe against Google?

The first thing you are doing wrong is worrying about Google.

Build you website with people in mind and ask questions such as:

How can I make my website user friendly?
Will my visitors find my content engaging?
What type of content will my users want to share?
Is my website easy to navigate?
Does my website take long to load?
Do I have a contact form so my visitors can reach me?
How about a privacy policy and terms of condition?
Am I linking to websites that will offend my visitors?

If you focus on those questions you'll find that you'll create a website that attract the right visitors to your website. Now having said that, focus on doing proper on page seo and off page seo and you'll have no problems with google. (btw, you should be focusing on numerous traffic sources and not just Google!)

On Page SEO

Use Your Keyword In Title
Use Your Keyword In H1, H2 and H3 tags
Use images in your posts with keyword in alt tags
Do NOT keyword stuff - just write as normal and let the keyword flow in your articles.
Use videos in your posts (an engaging video also helps to decrease bounce rate)
Make sure you use bold, italics and underline functions on your keywords randomly.
Use LSI keywords throughout your articles.
Original and unique articles only - preferably articles over 1000 words.
Link to internal post (interlinking)

Off Page SEO

Get links from various different domains (both niche related and non niche related)
Vary your anchor texts to the extent that the keyword you are trying to rank for may have less than 30% of all your links.
Build links slowly and consistently

That basically summarize what you need to know and start doing.

PS. Remember, there are a ton of traffic sources out there so don't rely solely on Google because you be doing the right things and simple algorithm change still wreck havoc on your rankings.

Yes Google does care about the people who are spending money with them, but their first priority, no matter how much money they get from ads, has to be their organic search and their ability to deliver what the person is searching for.

If they slacked off on the organic search results then they will start having less and less people using their search engines, and once that happens they will start having less and less advertisers because the advertisers are dependant upon the people, and if the people leave Google so will they and Google doesn't want that.

So Google is in the service business.

They have to provide people with what they are looking for, and the better job they do doing that, the more people will use the search engines.

And the more people using their search engines the more valuable it becomes because more advertisers are going to want to use it to advertise to those people doing searches.

One thing that I find about this whole Google is a big bad meany and only cares about money and doesn't care about IMers is usually the people who are shouting the loudest about this stuff are pissed off because they have been splapped by Google because they aren't or don't care to provide valuable, relevant content to Google's users, but they themselves are actually ONLY focused on making a quick buck from those users. (And here they are saying that Google is the one who's greedy, oh the irony)

EDIT: I am not saying that you Dennisknows are like that at all, it's just something that I have noticed with others.

Good share Yesacpow!

Do some research on silo-ing. On page content is becoming more and more important, and don't ignore silo-ing. Some factors are beyond your control, but on-page content is certainly something you can't overlook.

If you notice Yesacpow's post, there are more points on on-page than off-page. I guess that suggests something already

I write content for my audience and make sure OnPage SEO done properly. Then my audience share my content in social networking site's and link back to my site.

One thing to keep in mind is not to put all of your eggs in one basket. In other words, don't depend on Google for all of your traffic. There are so many different traffic generation methods, you shouldn't have to depend on just Google.

Just build a site that offers good content and don't concentrate so much on the SEO! I have a site ranking on page 1 of google for many search terms and I really didn't bother to much about the SEO. Google wants good content and unique copy - simple

Kyle,

There's no perfect answer to that question but learn to develop traffic that is not Google dependent but still helps you in Google.

For example, in one of my niches, I targeted a site owned by a best selling author. I wrote a killer and amazing piece of content for them to use and just asked for a link back to my site.

The article got over 100,000 hits in 4 hours because this guy has that kind of pull with his social media following. In return, that link got my tons of my own visitors as well.

Ultimately, the link helped my Google rankings tremendously but the benefits themselves didn't depend on Google if that makes sense.

The moral of the story is to find people of influence and find a way you can offer them something beneficial that will help you as well.

Work FB, LinkedIn, the WarriorForum or other sites and you don't need to care about Google. Google's importance as a traffic source is falling, and will fall hugely next year once this Christmas's crop of iPads and Kindles are unwrapped.

If your site contains crappy content or content taken from other web sites, you are not safe from any major search engine. Follow the advice offered from other warriors and write quality content focused on a niche without too much competition and one that people actually search for.

Remember that Google can only kick a site out of one search engine -- Google.

Just do white hat CEO. As long as you do everything by the rules you shouldn't have a problem. I've run sites for 10 years now and they are still there after all the google updates. They are not necessarily number one but they are upthere on the first page. If I would keep on building back links and writing good content I'm sure that would do well.

Just do a good job consistently and don't be afraid.

That's not true. Your competitors are doing on and off page SEO and building links to their money site which will quickly out rank you.

Relying on Google to do 'automatically rank you' is hopeless when your competitors are doing proper SEO to their sites.

For a new site, the simple answer is write and supply content that is engaging for your readers. Your main focus are you visitors first and foremost. Ask them to like your pages, posts, or re-tweet your website. Try to get your readers to engage socially. Try to learn what they link and don't like. Content is key.

Next work on building your brand. That is #2 on the lost, but also goes hand in hand with #1.

Be sure to have a facebook, wordpress, blogspot, twitter and etc sites built exclusively for your website. These will all link back to your website.

Next slowly build quality backlinks. Avoid spam links to your money site.

Also, you should have an email opt-in form on your website so you can build an email list. Email marketing is very important to keep your visitors coming back
