Hi,

The title says it all. I'm looking for the best tool (free or paid) to check search engines positions rankings for my keywords. I don't want any monthly fees. Just one time payment tools.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks in advance.

PowerSuite's Rank Tracker. There is a small fee once a year to keep the program updated. I forget the amount though.

If you want to be cheap, CuteRank used to work okay. I haven't touched it in about a year or more though, so I cannot vouch for its effectiveness today.

I have used many free tools but none of them provided the exact position.
Manually checking SERP is best option.

Have you tried WhatsMySERP.com? It is completely free and allows registered users to have 10 domains and 25 keywords per domain. It is an on-demand Google SERP checker that checks the top 300 of Google results and tracks and graphs the last 30 days so you can spot trends. You can also pick from over 50 google regions and include three competing domains per domain.

It also includes a nice keyword density tool that pre-populates your URL and keyword from your SERP results. Just a button click away from your SERP results.

It also uses its own private proxies so now worries about being blocked by google and since it is a website, you can access your info anywhere.

Also, if your keyword falls into the top 25 of results, we will use the exact method users use to get results from google, which will match them 100%. Outside of the top 25? We pull results 100 at a time, which as most people know can vary a bit.

In case you missed it, it is free.

There is no "exact" position for a lot of searches unless the the position is cemented in.

There are a lot of variables as to what position you will see depending on when, where and how you perform the search.

I realize that you don't want to pay for anything but that raises my question to how serious you really are about performing seo / sem on your site(s).

I use SerpBook.com its cheap only $3/mo for the 1st 10 keywords I want to track but its 100% accurate and even allows you to manually check real positions of anything you want using their cookie blocker browser within the site.

You get what you pay for so..

I didn't say that I don't want to pay. I said that I want to pay for a one time fee tool ( no monthly fees) and that is exactly what I did though. I bought Magic Rank Tracker for only 17$ and it's working fine on my 500 keywords. I already have a lot of expenses each month for seo and I don't feel like paying a monthly fee for something that I can easily get from a one time fee tool. Cheers.

      Ok.

Well, I'm working on approximately 1500 keywords right now. Are you going to manually check those for me genius? And I need every instance of the domain that shows up in the top 200 for each keyword.

Tools work fine for checking ranks as long as you are not using crappy ones.

How do you find the time to check 20, 30, or more keywords per day and record the results so you can graph it to spot trends? I wrote whatsmyserp.com because I was tired of spending so much time doing just that, entering each keyword and checking the results, one by one, putting it into a spreadsheet. Imagine also, that your SERP results are not on the first page for all your keywords? Let's say it is 32nd? You have to sift through 4 pages of results just to find your domain for one keyword. Ouch!

      - With most tools, they pull results 100 at a time, which can be slightly off from what a typical user sees. On whatsmyserp, if your keyword falls into the top 25, it pulls them 10 at a time, and should match the results a typical user sees exactly.
      - The site also shows the details of the results. Not just a number so you can evaluate what's going on. It also does a little on page SEO check of the title and description and clearly shows the results for your site and the top 10 results.
      - The site checks the top 300 results for Google. Perfect for when you start a new site and you aren't anywhere close to the top 10 or top 100....yet.
      - The site records all your results and graphs the last 30 days. No spreadsheets, paper and pencil required. Just a click of a button to check 25 keywords per domain whenever you want to check. And it has an import feature to load your keywords.
      - Also, choose from over 50 google regions and add up to three competing domains to highlight in your results.
      - No worries about being blocked by Google, because it uses its own private proxies and when it encounters a problem, it re-checks automatically using a different proxy, so you get good results everytime.

      All for free!

Now, unless you only have 2-3 keywords, I can't see how anyone would want to do it manually. You do have to find the right tool that gives you accurate results, is easy to use, and fits your budget. Give ours a try and let us know what you think. We love feedback.

Not sure I understand. Whatsmyserp.com checks the top 300 google results. You want to check beyond the top 300 results? Also, you originally mentioned google analytics. How does this relate to that?

Why not use WhatsMySERP.com? It uses its own proxies and you can check your rank whenever you want at no cost. No worries about being blocked by google. It doesn't allow scheduling, but a single click will check up to 25 keywords in about 4 minutes. It keeps track of the last 60 days and graphs the results. I can tell you what rank trackers NOT to use:
Eric Nelson's Rank Tracker and Rank Tracker: Video Edition.
Rank Tracker has never worked right. Constant problems and tech support is really slow and sometimes worthless.
The video edition worked for a while but then quit working. I didn't even bother to submit a tech support ticket on that one, why bother? The support is horrible.

Also you have to set up Cron Jobs but they don't work with my hosting so I have to use a web site for setting up cron jobs for it which is a pain.

All I can say is, I'll never buy any more software from this vendor!

I tried to search for some "one-time payment" tools but haven't found any that would work. Probably all good saas apps are based on auto-renewals.

So how about SERPWatcher.com ? Super user-friendly interface, one key metric to track the overall progress, interactive shared reports. There's free interactive demo. Subscription includes 3 SEO tools, there's an annual/monthly plan you can cancel anytime.

    Hope this helps!

There are many free SERP rank checking tools but none of them provide the exact position. Manually rank checking is the best option.
